Thanks for your thoughts and support everyone. It's very hard to lose him and he is greatly missed, but it helps me to know he lived a long, healthy and often spoiled life. We should all be so lucky. To all my fellow dog lovers, give your dog a big hug tonight...

Just randomly came actoss one of our lab from a few years ago. If you can't tell, she sort of likes water.

^^Awesome shot! I hope Gus will be a water dog.

I know puppies are pretty resilient, but I hope he doesn't break himself sleeping... :D
Phone pic, since I didn't have time to get my camera.

Brian,
Sorry for your lost. You are lucky to have each other for the past 18 year.

T4R, what kind of dog?? Is it really 85lbs???? I know those terrier breeds can be pretty stout... but???????

Yep she weighed in at 85lbs on her last Vet visit. Roxy is a Giant Schnauzer coming up on 3 years old in August. Females can get to around 90 LBS and the males can push 110 LBS.

This is from last year:

And a couple weeks ago with my daughter:

Good lookin mutt, sir. My mom has a miniature schnauzer... never knew there was a giant! All of my dogs weigh in at 40-50lbs. Good size mutts for me. I dont like big or yappy little dogs!

Thanks. The cool thing about the giant schnauzers is their personality is so much more calm then their smaller cousins. She never barks unless you get her fired up playing or she is alerting to a perceived threat. She is basically a Velcro dog and wants to be with the family pack constantly.

In a way she is like a rescue dog in that she was bred for show but due to the small white patch of fur on her chest she was not qualified. We got her for a major discount and had to agree not to breed her.

I still love my defective little camping friend.

I had to do a double take there to make sure that the one on the left wasn't my dog. Man they are close.

:sombrero: He was our friend's dog and they got along great, tearing up the woods and each other all weekend. They said he was mix of a Chow and German Shepard. Cool dog.

I just got back home from a SAR call out. Had to go get a father and son off a mountain. Anyhoo, they had a dog with them and lo and behold it was one of those ugly things like AdventureDuo have. really old though, with a white beard
So herewith my very poor quality cellphone photo of the ugly but very happy dog. And he was famous for a minute because we had a British film crew with us
