I know what I'm getting next Tach, Trans Temp, and house battery voltage in the pillar.. thanks for finding that for us Nely. I knew they made em, but I didn't want to buy it from Quigley.

It's looking mean with the scoops and the bumper. It's got some "vanitude"

I have yet to tow anything with my van. And the hills i was in are on the 60 fwy heading to palm springs. There nothing to overwhelm the engine. Im always sceptical about what i read on forums. Im going to contact the place i purchased my dp tuner from and ask whats safe.

My frinds got a trans temp on his 99 sd truck. He easily hits 250°+ trans fluid temp and everywhere i read on forums that trans death. But his sensor is on the hot side comming out of the trans. So is 250° bad after the fluids done its job? I dunno.

Thanks toolman!! The scoops are functional. I wanna keep the underhood temps down.

Somewhere between 260 and 300 is meltdown temps on a tranny. My last tranny on my van started creeping up in temps each time I did a big haul. First it was 210 then 220 and on up to 250 when I replaced it I was reaching 240ish just driving up the road to my house at 8000 feet. But I still drove it on a 2000 mile round trip with no issues. I had a very reliable trans shop tell me 250 is ok and 300 is melt down but that 50 degree rise happens quick when things are slipping creating heat. Now with that being said a good tight transmission should not reach much over 200 towing a serious load if it does go beyond that it is on it's way out the door. It may last a long time if you baby it but either way it is worn out and ready for an overhaul. Like anything gauges are the answer! If you cannot monitor your vitals you are just driving blindfolded. I forgot to add earlier Nely your van is looking sharp.

Thats my welder buddy underneath the van. Im a mechanic by trade and will do most everything on the van, but weld.

I have full access to my shop and hoists 24/7 so its great. I stripped my old van with help of guy buying parts and swap 4x stuff over starting on saturday and finishing sunday. No breakfast or lunch, just work. It was exhausting.

And although im not 100% finished ill post up the pics i just took. All thats left is to pull off the front brackets and paint everything up front. And the drivetrain but thats in the process. And i saved old fuel tank from my 96 to have modded making it an easy swap and no down time on the new van. This is my family vehicle and have nothing else at the moment so less downtime the better. The tank getting cleaned now. What should i do about the surface rust on the frame? Por15 or just clean it up and rustoleum paint it? Never deal with much rust being in southern california. Well on to pics.

Those are 37s in the front and 315 in rear. Either i will swap the 09 sterling rear i have in or get spacers to run 37 all around. This is a 6" lift so some fender trimming will be inorder. Its close at ride height so under flex i know itll rub.

Looooookin good!! That was quick!

I think you can get away with cleaning the frame & rattle canning it since you're in SoCal. Then touch it up from time to time. Thats how I keep my van all purdy.....

I have a few leads on places that will weld up my tank. Im gonna check on those tomorrow.

Im also waiting to hear back from our transmission guy to go thru the options of converting the trans to accept my nv271.

Also gotta send the tcase out to have it torn down and inspected to make sure my $90 junkyard find is useable.

Keys in my desk drawer here at work, factory troubleshooting manual at home in the garage! I'll be at the mountain event for sure, cant wait for that, and if you and Toolman head to Mojave in fall I'd like to hit that event as well - vans on the Mojave, I love it!

Damn, wish I could join for a Mojave run. I did it back in 07, good times!

I may have to make a special trip to teach Toolman how it's done :D
