When i do the trans install ill give some details into using the pre 98 e4od transmission with the nv271 and what i ran into and what parts are necessary.

Lost of cutting and welding of the lower radiator support is needed if you really wanna run this big of a cooler. In hindaight, i probably would have gotten one thats smaller, but ill just go with it for now. If i feel the lower radiator supports structure will cause the radiator to drop out ill just replace the lower rad support and go to a smaller cooler.

It's been awhile. But I'm finally almost there.

Finding the place and time to do the trans swap was the hardest part. Not to mention I had to change the transmission selector from my trans to my rebuilt. Because of the difference between the years.

But it's together. And my front shaft will be built this week.

I sent an email off to chris. I seem to have a problem with the abbot convertor box. I wired it up correctly, and it's got 12v power and ground. I've. Tried to do my calculation on the ratio, and even used the one suggested on chris' site. But no matter what I do my gps shows 11 mph and my speedo says 60. There's also a red blinking light when the key is on. I saw it while I tried adjusting the dip switches.

Anyone else run into any issues with the convertor box?

How is the 6.0 Tranny cooler working for you? I want to upgrade mine and everyone on the diesel forums says that is the best one to get. Looks like it takes up almost too much surface area and they are $$ unless you can find someone who doesn't know what they have. I do not have an immediate need for an IC either, but if you can mount a tranny cooler that large is seems like you should be able to mount an IC up front. (Tubing being another issue, but moving the batteries to the frame should solve some space issues up top.

I didn't hook the 6.0 trans cooler up to my old trans. Waiting to hook it to the new one. I'm considering redoing the mounting so I'm not sure yet. It does take up a huge amount of space. I think the smaller 6.0 cooler might work better since it's 26 row I believe. I used the huge 31 row.

Yes an IC should fit. But it would be alot to modify the radiator support. Unless the 6.0 stuff will bolt on. Its something I'd like to look into since my exhaust temps can climb up when I'm towing up I15 to barstow. But also 37's and 3.73 gears don't help it much. A gearing in the sterling is surely due.
