MoGas Where did you get the NT Outback licenses plate ?
I have one that's been on the front of 3 different cruisers I've owned. Someone about 11 yrs ago on the old LCML offered them from down under to a few people on that list.

I found it and a Western Australia plate at an antique store here in Flag. I got them both for ten bucks.

A nothing mod today, but I wanted to add it to the thread: blacked out the Tacoma rims. Now I just need some 285/75 treadwrights. Anyone need some 235's?

I'd be all over those 235s if I was heading to CO soon. The shipping is difficult to swallow though!

I'm a fan of the black wheels...looks good.

A few more bits: after I lamented the high cost of Kaymar rear tire carriers, a buddy squared me away with the ultimate hook-up and GAVE me his!!! He works out of the back of his truck and the design was in the way. How very fortunate for someone on the tire carrier hunt. Thanks Mike!!!

Thanks a bunch for the kind words. This Cruiser has had a lot of help from some super people!

Looking good.... pretty soon though you will be dying to go higher :sombrero:

I ordered some bits today that should arrive on Tuesday. Stay tuned!

Re going higher: After reading the Rover forum about portals... Well, let's see what happens over the summer and after some more research. Other than $$$ I can't see a downside, yet.

Portals will limit your freeway speeds, so if long stretches on the freeway are in your future, pay very close attention to what gears you want to run to ensure they will suit you on the road.

New shoes

Last week I ordered a set of 285/75/16 TreadWrights in the Warden pattern (bfg at) with BFG Triguard sidewalls. Got them yesterday and they are indistinguishable from the true 235/85 BFG AT's I took off. There was a trick getting them balanced but they roll out just fine and ride nicely with their D rated sides vs. the 235's E rating. They certainly fit the Tacoma rims much better.

The look is certainly more 'beefy' and having 5 priced for about the cost of 3 virgin tires has me hopeful this is a long, happy realtionship.

Testing day

I took the rig to a local trail called Slaughter House Gulch today for testing of the rigs setup and to tighten the winch line. This trail is pretty easy with a few fun obstacles. Went with my buddy Chad, his pup Sophie and Atlas, the Mighty German Shepherd. All told, the rig performed GREAT - much better than the similarly equipped Tacoma ever thought about doing. My friend and I were shocked at the flex and the smoothness over some of the rougher parts of the trail. Very steady progress made for an almost magic carpet ride. I couldn't be happier. Well, if I hadn't crunched my G9 I guess I would be happier, but that's another story. Here are the last shots from my beloved Camera:

Cargo Barrier!

I have been after a rear cargo barrier to isolate storage as well as have a good place to mount first aid, fire extinguisher, and other kit. Well, the cost is HUGE and shipping only makes it worse.

So, I'm at the hardware store looking for racking or fencing to make something temporarily when I spy a four wing wire mesh display sitting near the dumpster. Long story short they GAVE it to me - and it had all the right hardware to make it work easily. A little time with the bolt cutters and some spray can bed liner and Voila! I have a barrier for about $20 in materials and fasteners. It is VERY securely locked in and should serve the needs of keeping gear off the pup when out and about.

For your review:
