Smittybilt Scout Trailer Reviews?

Second season prep/modding of the Smitty have begun.
First is welding a bracket on the the rear swing tire carrier. It will hold two 2 gallons rotopax fuel cannisters. As the front tongue area will soon be fully enclosed in a Carbon Fiber box, I was not real keen on storing fuel in an en closed area and also wanted to shift as much weight rearward as possible. Cost..... about $10 for the 1x3 inch iron piece.

Second will be mounting the 11 pound Worthington propane bottle on the back of the left side case right above the license plate. Only holdup..... the price of that piece of aluminum bracket...... $110..... a bit steep.

Thirdly, all the materials have been gathered for the composite boards to be laid up for the front big tongue box. I suspect the first panel will be laid sometime next week.
That will be fun indeed.
Cheers.

I'm jealous of how clean you keep your shop. Looks like an operating room. (y)

He he..... you know, when you only fly 60-80 days of the year, you get a lot of time to sweep floors..... I think I log more time on the Tenant floor sweeper, than the tin can made in Wichita KS... :) :) :)

Must be nice. I posted the message here about there being an issue and I still haven't gotten anything from them. After waiting over 3 months, I sent an email, and they didn't even bother to reply to it. Sent another one tonight, so we'll see. I think I'm to the point that if I have to call them about it, they're not going to like what I have to say. I guess they only work on the squeaky wheel gets the grease principle .. so I reckon I'll get ready to make some noise.

He's done a lot for me. Both with the trailer and the RTT.

We just got back from Anza Borrego and the trailer was great! It is hands down the best value for an off road capable trailer. And pulls exceptionally well on road, as well. We are very happy with ours.

I'd love to see detailed build photos or just an intro of the extra stuff on this trailer. How the awning is attached, what's the diamond plate box over the wheel well, and especially the storage box under the tent.

Matt is who I emailed. He finally answered my second email. According to him he was gonna mail a set out to me that day or the next, so we'll see. 98% or my dealings with them have been perfectly fine, but here and there I have to step up the contacts or I'll just be stuck in limbo. I get it, I'm sure they have a lot on their plate with this. I just want to have the retro kit in place before I do my own reinforcements just so I know the retro won't effect anything I do.

This weekend I made some brackets to hang my four floods, two on each side, on separate switched circuits.

I also picked up a Basecamp stove and made up a base for it. Works great!

Lemme see what we can pull together

That base camp stove is an amazing value. With that bracket in place @ about $50 it is a joy to cook with. I specially enjoys the fact that you can control the draft air on the burners. That makes a big difference when you crank it @ 10000 feet.
