Where is rocker panel pass? I'm not even sure I have the name right. This is the trail I've heard shovel broke his leg on while carrying a hi lift? Is this trail awesome?

I think the trail Shovel broke his leg while carrying a Hi-Lift was across the highway from the trail to Four Peaks. I've never explored there. Hackberry is always cool. Table Mesa is between I-17 and the trail that runs straight north out of Cave Creek/Carefree, easier to find off I-17, since there's an exit there (duh), then head due east on the trail (supposed to have an AZ State Trust Land pass). The trails have bypasses for those of us who actually care about body panels, and there's some really good obstacles for challenges and pictures. I know RyanY has been over there before. I've done the easy stuff, but it's been a few years. I'd vote for that.

I-17 north to Table Mesa, then east on the trail, intersects Seven Springs road/trail and that runs south into Cave Creek/Carefree. South on Pima and you hit the Loop 101 to head back to wherever you call home. It would be a virtual all-day trip. And a good one.

I'm game for what ever honestly. I've never been on the east part of table mesa, that I know of. I have been on the west, again, I think. The west part is where terminator, predator, I think 6th day is. These are very aggressive trails and a ton of fun, very short as well. RyanY had to run out a spare tie rod end to me while wheeling with all the Nissan dudes up there. Jbfp, if you think you can navigate the trail going from table mesa and I 17 to the east towards cAve creek, then let's do it, you lead.

Shovel, that trail looks awesome! We have to schedule that one in for a day run.

I can lead for the Table Mesa thing. The regular guy trail is simple and I'm sure you can find your way into the nasty stuff.

For what it's worth, I switcherooed the tires on my rigs. The 95 now has the 33's, the 86 has the P235/60's and the 87 is keeping the remaining 35's from rolling anywhere. Putting the little street tires on the 86 really demonstrates how freaking quick that truck is. I'll try to remember to take it out with the GPS to see how close the speedo is now (was 25% underreporting with the 33's). It may even cooperate with a bit of a smoky burnout (pending) due mostly to how long the tires have been sitting out in the sun on the 87.

I ordered and received new O2 sensors, a new EGR vacuum motor-thingy, a new fuel filter and a couple of WIX premium oil filters for the 95 from Rock Auto. The O2's have probably never been replaced (they do get worn), my NOX emissions are way high (RyanY replaced his EGR motor/actuator-thingy; why shouldn't I?), I've never replaced my fuel filter, and I just like to have extra oil filters on hand. Having said all that, I let Jorge borrow my 95 to take on a group camping trip with his weirdo cultural, quasi church-but-not-religious-so-it's-not-about-that group to Payson for the weekend. The temp tag I put on it is good until Wednesday, so I'll try to install my new parts after I Seafoam the intake tract and putty over (temporarily) the giant vacuum leak I have at the front of my plenum at the butterfly shaft, then disconnect the actuator for another trip to emissions. Better pass.

Speaking of butterfly shafts, plenums, and now, bushings for those plenums, my brother told me the guy that made my set (bronze-aluminum alloy, hi-tech, yeah) went and died at the age of 53, which is totally uncool. So, no more of those bushings.

Question for the AZ Crew, specifically those in the Valley.

I'm attending MWU in Glendale right now, though usually I'm in Flag.

I need a good Mitsubishi mechanic in my area that can take care of an oil leak or two, and some other small items as well.

Does anyone have a good shop or indy place in the area? Normally, I'd take the vehicle down to Will at SE, but the drive, along with my schedule makes that too much of a hassle, and I do not have the time to work on the vehicle myself right now.

For reference, this is for a 2001 Mitsubishi Montero LTD.

Thanks,
G

He's not in Glendale, but when I've got something that I can't do myself I take my vehicles to him - John at Service First on Cave Creek Rd just North of Thunderbird Rd. He's not overly expensive, he knows what he's doing, and he's not going to recommend unnecessary repairs.

I'd love to join you guys at Table Mesa Saturday but am going to a concert that night and am worried that I wouldn't make it back in time. Would you quit planning **** on days that I'm already busy?

Is that an indy shop or a chain? Is John the manager or one of the mechanics?

Thanks for the recommendation.

It's an independent shop that John and his girlfriend started years ago. John does some work himself but has a few guys working for him as well.

I finally beat the 'screws' that legislate emissions tonight by actually passing. My NOX emissions had been too high. First, I found that my EGR vacuum lines were hooked up incorrectly, and had been for who knows how long (they were marked by someone before I got the truck and were incorrect then), plus I had a great big vacuum leak at the front of the plenum where the butterfly control actuator is. I fixed that by disconnecting the solenoid and drizzling clear silicone caulking all over the joint and smoothing it around with a screwdriver. I guess it's reversible, but it's staying that way for now because the linkage is so loose that it makes a loud rattling noise that likely throws off the knock sensor anyway. So, I paid those barstards the 13 month's worth of late fees, $60, and my 2-year registration of $43.88 and I'm good until October 15 of 2017, since that's the usual renewal date (or however they figure it, I don't even care).

On to new repairs. Like: Why is my steering so loose...again? Why haven't I had dash lights for four or five years? Why doesn't my truck have heat? What is this rash? Perhaps that's too many questions.

Checking in. Can't roll this weekend, but am down for January.

I can also highly recommend Auto Air & Electric just east of I17 on Bell. Across from Midway Nissan, behind Burger Mania. Mike runs the joint and has worked on my GVR4, diagnosed my blown oil pressure bypass on Rocínante, and has taken exceptional care of my in-laws over the years. If you go there, tell him Keith with the rally car's friend Brian sent you. (My in-laws have the old, silver Monte Carlo.) Super nice guy.

As for Table Mesa east of 17, I've done it several times in the last 3 years. Never taken anything but Rocínante (swb gen 1, 31s, Aussie crawler gears). Never had any trouble. Late this summer, my buddy ran it in a stock TJ after the big rains. He said the trail was washed out and he was scraping and bouncing everywhere. Apparently pretty brutal. It's been a few months, though, so maybe it's smoothed back out a bit. My favorite part is driving through the creek towards the end.

Hope this helps.

Checking-in from the arctic north. Watched it snow most of yesterday, Michigan is giving me the cold shoulder.

I land in the valley of sun this Sunday, not soon enough if you ask me. I'm up for snow camping this January, but right now snow is the last thing I want to think about.
