My Kermits are getting old and rickety. They lived in my motorcycle saddlebags, in the back of my MINIs, Jeep, & Power Wagon. The bouncing around is making the metal pins fall out...

Been looking at those folding wonder GSI contraptions. I like the way they disappear.

Is it material defect or wear? I'm sure if it's not the latter Kermit would honor it as a warranty?

MacCabee chair source

I bought two MacCabee chairs just like yours (same color!) about ten years ago and nothing I've seen before or since even comes close to the durability and support (particularly back support) of this chair. One of my MacCabee's got blown into the campfire about five years ago and burnt up. The other is still going strong. On camping trips, everyone wants to sit in my chair and I have to chase them off to their stupid Walmart/Big Five chairs. I have been looking everywhere on-line and in stores to buy a few more of these MacCabee's but can't find them anywhere. Does anyone know where I can get them?

I just got one of the REI flex lite chairs yesterday. I really like it so far. I will be testing it out and giving an AAR.

They are on sale right now for $49.99....pretty good deal I thought.

Sitting in an REI Flexlite "field testing" it as I type. Really got it for backpacking. As much as I try to go ultralight, I have found that some sort of chair is pretty essential to an enjoyable trip (back issues) and at 1 lbs. 12 ounces, the REI is feasible. I'm 6' and 200 lbs. I don't think you'd want to be a whole lot bigger in it -- just not wide enough. It's sturdy, but not rock solid. For that we use the director type chairs with side tables we picked up from Sam's club. If you're carrying it, on a motorcycle or really pressed for space, the Flexlite seems to be the ticket especially at $50.

At Overland Expo today saw and tried the most comfortable chair ever. Oztent was showing about four chairs that were super comfy, even had adjustable lumbar support. Don't recall model names but check the website.

Got to finish up my backrest idea for these chairs a few posts back showed the helinox same idea but using trekking pole might get some Easton shafts for mine since trekking poles make it back heavy but it makes em so comfy you can totally relax and fall asleep in them !

My back rest idea is getting modified a bit since I noticed these chairs on soft ground can kinda sink in

I got two of the King Kokoda chairs. I tried them all - at great length - and that was the most comfortable model.

I might have bought a chair at OEX but no one was willing to talk to me. One of my biggest gripes about OEX is too many people want to bs with vendors while possible buyers are ignored. Would it help if I set my self on fire to get attention?

After a weekend camping with the flex lite, it have to say that I like it....for it's intended purpose.

For travel on a motorcycle or when space is limited, it's great. On soft ground, the small feet dig in though. And with the other, larger chairs around this weekend, I found myself gravitating towards them. It beats the ground, a hard bench, or no seat by a mile. But it has it's faults.
