Man-card?!?

Dude, I stay at home with my kid. I do the cleaning. I do the dishes. Last night, I baked a quiche...in an apron.

Let me go check with Tiff and see if I can get my man card out of her purse.

PS- The quiche was damn good!

LOL, you are a box of chocolates away from curling up on the couch with a blanket and watching Oprah...

Btw, I love quiche...

El Gringo Spectacular!
LOL....

To make you feel better, I had just pulled a home made apple pie (including crust and neighborhood apples!) out of the oven the other night when I got called out on a SAR....

Yeah, not really...I don't have the cool "SAR" excuse.

Buutttt...got the tires mounted to the wheels, and the wheels on the Cruiser...looks good.

Took a nice drive to catch some fall colors around the Peaks; 151 to 418 and back through town. The colors are amazing right now!

Down the road.

And, just to emphasize the utilitarian nature of Landcruisers(and wives :D) in general:

The tailgate diaper changing station, I am about to re-enter those days as of January. The truck looks great!

Well, Mogas and I have been tearing into the knuckles for a birf/axle service over the past few days.

Damn this is messy!

My advice to anyone that hasnt done this job before, make sure you have an awesome mechanic friend to guide you through the process, and show you the tips and tricks to make it as trouble-free as possible.

Birf soup is nashtay.

That is great advice, I learned the hardway tearing into mine with nothing but some instructions I printed off the internet and a Haynes manual Not the same thing as having someone experienced there. I don't envy the mess! Good luck with it.

I was glad that I read one of the online FAQ's that suggested 4, yes FOUR, rolls of paper towels. I think I used all of them, plus about 50 rubber gloves.

I actually enjoyed tearing into it, once I got everything cleaned up and put back together. Knowing that it was done right is very comforting.

Good luck,

Gabe

The tailgate does make an excellent changing station.... but that picture makes it very obvious that a lift and tires are needed... :D That position as a changing table is too low... y'all will hurt your backs like that... :D

So what have you decided as far as a lift goes?
I'm going with the OME heavy lift; 850/863 coils, with Slee correction bushings, OME shocks and stabilizer...but that will be a while off...unless I find a killer deal on them.

Big thanks to Dave(Mogas) and to Kurt of Cruiser Outfitters. I ordered some Marlin seals from him on Monday, and they were to my door by wednesday, and this is on top of Marlin not having their own seals due to a backorder issue; thanks Kurt.

And to Dave who guided and hassled me through the entire process, but made it go smoothly...definitely an expert.

We finished the GWB on Friday night, and just finished his 62 over Sat and Sun.

It was interesting to see the progression of systems from the two vehicles, and to see how two very similar assemblies can fail differently. Obviously, both seals had failed, and mine was a thick greasy oily mess, while the 62 was just an oily mess. Bearing and races were trashed on his through overheating, and mine through mixing of the oil and grease.

All in all, a dirty learning experience, and something I am very confident I could handle in the field.
