Almost have the entire dash apart now. I'll be using Second Skin products to line the Cruiser.

I bought the 80 with a heater core leak, and after tonight, I have found that the factory mat under the carpet is toast from the leaking...and quite nasty I might add.

So, I need to find some factory replacement carpet pieces, or figure out a solution, possibly rubber mats or something of that nature.

To update the running inventory as of tonight:
-$6.43 more

So, the rear heater was leaking badly as well, so lots of stank *** jute underneath the carpet.

SOR wants $550 plus shipping for new factory molded carpet, looks like I'll be hitting the car wash with some simple green and a bleach solution to kill anything that needs to be killed.

I spoke with the Second Skin rep today, and will be checking out the factory on Tuesday when I'm in PHX. I'll be using Damplifier Pro with a top coat of Spectrum.

I was going to Line-X the interior first, but after talking with Second Skin, he said they have had better results when the Damplifier is applied directly to the sheet metal.

I'm not 100% sure on the Spectrum yet, but for $60, it may be worth it; I'll know more on Tuesday.

I was hoping you weren't going to say that! I guess I am going to have to strip out the 60 and get some dry ice.

That set list is contemp christian/positive message rock so I'd say that was a good person to buy from!

What about finding a wrecked 80 and salvaging the carpet from that? I would think it would be much cheaper but that is a huge job to get it out at the salvage yard.

I might have missed this but you are going to build a rear storage drawer/shelf in the back? Too bad you don't live in NC as you could drive it to Cape Hatteras (on the beach) when you're through and then you'ld have a CAPE BUFFALO!!!

Music aside, they were great folks and owned a sweet place in San Pedro, right over the ocean.

I'm going to remove the jute backing everywhere I can, wash the carpet really, really well, and see what I can do. I may or may not replace the jute.

I'm not going the rear drawer route. I have my Engel hard mounted in the passenger rear, and am keeping the driver 3rd row. I'm on somewhat of a quest to minimize all the crap I carry, and only load up when needed.
