I was wondering about build quality of rvs. Looking at some 08's diesel right now lol

Ohhhhh OK.I guess check out some RV forums.Frame twist and the RV body mounting would be my first concern.RVs are usually mounted a little more rigidly than other bodies which may cause some cracking or gaps on the inside joints or outside body/roof.

For class C, Lazy Daze is probably the best made.

Other well made Class C, all fiberglass boat type hull construction; Coach House and out if business Chinook.

Both of above can be found without slides.

Good ole stick n staple RVs as they have come to be know.A lot of RVs are wood framed with Fiberglass panels on the outside. The RV bus boys usually curse them.

what kind of rv you looking for

YOu asked for opinion on Rv to buy.

you might want to list what you will be using it for on or off road
what length and what price range with list of must have's in it.

do you need separate sleeping bed or fold out couch to serve.
do you want full bathroom.
will you be worried about the ability to convert to 4x4.....

all kinds of things as RV market is hugh with all kinds.

If money not an issue go for an earth roamer type or MBZ sprinter in not 4x4
good luck.

I would have bough a chinook and had Chris covert to 4x4 if I did not him redoing my E350 SMB style van.

SwissVan is on the ground and mobile. We've been working a ton on all of the little goodies and its going to the interior shop Monday. I plan to shoot some video of the undercarriage saturday. I'll post it asap!

Haven't weighed it after the conversion. But, I know that a normal conversion adds ~ 800lbs to the van. We'll weigh it once the interior is done.

Doesn't ride rough at all! None of my vans do. 52" spring built specifically for this rig. Good shock, proper geometry, never had a complaint about ride quality.

Man, I don't know is this thread is helping me with my moral. I see all of these killer rides and mine has been under the knife for almost two years. The next one I am driving out to you and driving it back home Chris. I would get some killer offroad spots in on the drive back to California.

Paint options/ opinions.

Way awesome stuff here. Was up late many nights catching up on this thread. Working on my own axles now to get ready to install a ujoint 4" lift. Looking for suggestions for paint for the axles and frame. Powder coat isn't in the budget. How about epoxy like por15?

I can't speak for the durability of POR15 because my POR15 painted axles have been sitting in my garage unused for the last three years but they look pretty.

POR 15 is a three step process and should hold up well. If I ever get these axles on my Ambulance that I have yet to buy without my wife finding out about, I'll give you an update ;)

Scored this E350 Dana 60 axle for $300 a few years ago on Ebay.

These would look great on the Six13 Metalworks Ambulance

Man, that thing is sweet. What front bumper will it be getting?

Aluminess that we're modifying so the winch can be removed and placed in the rear receiver.

I've never used the POR 15 on the axles. Is your frame and/or axle very rusty? I use a simple semi flat black on the axles & frame. Once a year get under there and clean/re paint and it will look good forever. Easy to touch up in between.

I had the axle shot blasted and so most of the rust is gone. Frame has rust. Will do the best I can with elbow grease and a wire wheel/ brush. I will prime it and see how it goes. Just wondered what the experts use . Thanks
