Man, you are one busy guy. Is this axle a semi float? The one on my mini bus is massive compared to this and it's an E350 too.

Correct, semi float

chris, do you need any test pilots?

I've got enough right now :D

I should let Chris chime in, but I think that is the old semi-float coming out.

I haven't seen many full floater passenger vans, but maybe they exist.

They do. around 2000-2001, the full floats started to disappear in regular vans. they just came in the cab/chassis rigs. Supposedly they're back with the RSC vans, but I haven't seen one yet.

Vanaconda is long overdue for some TLC. With the east coast expo event coming up soon, and the van getting close to 100K, now is the time. So.... here's the menu---- Turbo removal & cleaning, EGR cooler delete, new programmer from DP Tuner (80hp eco) EGT gauge, belt, new shocks, frame & axle cleaning & fuel filters! This should keep me busy for a few days :D

I was wondering if you cleaned the turbo your self or got it serviced by a garrett distributor. I am almost done with an egr delete on my 6.0l. When I took out the turbo. I took it out in two pieces. Its abit rusty and the carbon has piled up, resulting in me not being able to get it back together with the fan spinning freely. I am thinking of getting it serviced by Garrett. Its $750. What are your thoughts.

Also when I tryed to put it back It seemed almost impossible. Do you have any pointers, getting it into its spot, and getting it over the oil pipe that it drains into right below it. It seems almost impossible. There is just so much stuff in the way. I am thinking of cutting the steel above it to give alittle more room to work with, then replaceing it with aluminum.

Any help would be much appriciated.

Read this article and decide if it's something you can handle.

I will be doing this myself tomorrow. Watch my thread for updates. Also, I will see what's up with the turbo going back in. In the meantime, I am sure that Chris with be along with some good advice.

I took my turbo to a Ford tech and had him do it. He took it apart, cleaned it & re assembled.

Continually impressed by your work Chris! BTW, thanks again for helping me find the rear D70 for my SMB! It's under it and running strong.

Thanks! Good deal, glad it's working well. I think that axle was originally under my V4 van!

Hey Chris, the van looks great! Would it be possible to get some shots/measurements of his roof marker lights? I bought some to install on my van, but I'm not sure where exactly to put them!

Also, you mentioned that you are doing a conversion on a 5.4 van soon, and it will allow you to finalize some things for the 5.4s. Any clues on what exactly you are finalizing? I'm still planning on doing the conversion, just need to decide when the time is right!

Thanks,
Jason

Sure, shoot me an email & I'll send a pic.

The 5.4 stuff will be smaller things like a t-case shifter kit & heat shields. Thats about it!

H3Van is gone! This van actually belongs to Hank Williams III, he's an awesome guy. Glad I was able to help him out & get this van driving right! Here he is with his rig.

No way, that's awesome! I was just listening to some of his music on the way home from work!!! Glad to see he has good taste in vehicles! Maybe he'll mention driving his van down a muddy dirt road in one of his future songs instead of a truck?
