What did you do to or where did you ride your mtn. bike today?

What's your daughter riding?

Its a 2008 Specialized Gromhit. Specialized had a clearance sale this summer on all the remaing stock. Between me and my buddies, we bought 3 for our kids. They retailed for $1650, but they were on sale for $800.

She is really talented for being 7. Here is a pic on the climbing wall. She made it to the top and rang the bell. She has never been rock climbing. Her mom climbs though.

We fit all three bikes and a ton of gear in the van.

KNTR, you're on Ridemonkey as well, right? I'm MDJ over there.

Anyhow, heading up to Downieville camping for the weekend. We should get some good rides in up there.

Nice, thanks for the info!

Reminds me of daughter a little, although I'm just getting her into biking. My daughter climbed a 50' wall and grabbed the $20 at the top...that the 3 teenage boys who attempted before her failed to get. I don't know what I'd do if I had to force her outdoors, we're very lucky.

If you find yourself in the North Cascades, just east of Washington Pass on Hwy 20 with your Mountain Bike, I highly recommend riding Cutthroat Pass. Every time I ride it, I can't believe bikes are allowed, absolutely stunning trail! Ride tops out at the PCT and the best time to ride is during the week, lot of hikers on the weekends.

I spent the weekend in the church parking lot! Teaching my 4 and 6 year olds to ride without training wheels, they are both already jumping curbs!!! :bike_rider:

Church parking lot/soccer field, helping a 7yo learn to ride. Sadly no one has ever taken the time to teach her.

My girls, ages 10 and 12 both got new bikes this month. Kona Hula and Scott Scale Jr. My little one already has about 20 miles under her tires in local rides, her sister did 5 miles with us on Sunday.

I did a couple miles on a track at a local park, and about a mile in a dirt lot near my house. I dont know of any real trails in my area, but I have been doing a lot of road biking with my Boy Scout troop to finish my Cycling merit badge. Were slated to do two 25 mile rides in two weeks, and then the same ride again, but to count as 50 miles the next week. But thats all on the road, sadly. I did work at a scout camp this past summer, and ran the mountain biking course for 2 of the 4 weeks I was up there (I wiped out, and they gave the job to some other guy I didnt like), and that was all off pavement dirt/mud action. Im hoping to take my bike up there soon. Thats part of why I wrecked, I was using a bike the camp had. A Specialized something or other hardtail. I ride a Trek 950 rigid bike. :) Sorry for the hijack. :)

I did 52 miles today. Sadly, it was all road miles, but it was one hell of a workout. averaged about 11 mph, and finished the whole thing in about 6 and a half hours. I didnt get any pictures though. It was fun, but tiring. :snorkel:
