I picked this 2010 Colorado a few months ago:

I really like the new Colorado/Canyons, but couldn't come to grips with the price tag. I wanted a smaller pickup so that I can tow it behind my motor home. That ruled out a lot of options as there are not many that can be pulled 4 wheels down. Just last week, I did some fabrication in order to tow the truck:

Well I kind of have a thing for Fords. The red 07 SuperDuty was my first brand new truck that I have ever bought. Bought it on Valentines day 07 lol. I sold it to my Dad when I picked up my new Tuxedo Black 2015 F350 Superduty. I also have the 95 Ford Flareside with the 302 and 5spd combo. Its a real fun little rig. The other picture includes my little brother's 06 F350 and my uncle's 97 F250 stroker with all one ton running gear upgraded into it.

Well, I'm a Ford person and if they ever make another Bronco comparable to the Jeep offerings I'll be getting rid of my jeep. But for now I'll keep my JKU and also drive a '15 F150 lariat CC ecoboost.

I'll chime in since I frequently have trouble deciding what to replace vehicles with.

I owned an 89 XJ and an 89ish MJ, both awesome.
When I got a "real" job I sold the Jeeps since they were old and beat up and bought a RWD 2006 Silverado. The beauty of this truck was its simplicity and economy. There was nothign to break and not enough power or drive to get it anywhere it couldn't get out of.
Eventually I traded this in against a 2009 WK which was an AWESOME to drive/use vehicle, but ended up spending a lot of time in at the stealership.

Sold the WK and bought a 2004 Silverado 1500 Crewcab. This truck was bought cheap ($10k) to replace the jeep on a short term and still have something that could tow the boat.
This Silverado has not been like my previous silverado: It was rode had and put away wet before we got it BUT it was been very practical with all of the interior space.

Now I am looking to replace it and will probably either go back to Jeep, or step up to the heavier duty of a 3/4 ton. (lots of house projects this summer...need that capacity!)

Believe it when I see em on dealership lots. Been way to much teasing over the decades that a truck was coming. I'm tired of tj "trucks", jk "trucks", diy "truck" kits.
Sadly there have been very "truck-like" varients going back MANY decades yet unavailable in the US. I've seen YJ based and TJ based "trucks" while deployed in random countries. These were often Diesel with other more stout than stock components. I understand many of these are either approved and built overseas, parts made in the US and assembled elsewhere, or built here and shipped straight to the end use nation.
And nothing for us but teases, never-to-see-production concepts, or Uber expensive custom conversions.
Sorry if I sound disgruntled. As a passionate jeep guy I just feel the teasing has gone on long enough.
Take a diesel, back it with a manual tranny, add the rubicon t-case, upgrade to hd44 or dana 60 axles with lockers...
And you'll sell every one you make.
Fills the void left by the s10/ranger departure. The market is out there.

I have always believed there is more to the demise of the Rangers and S10 and small Colorados and Dakotas than the manufacturers have led us to believe. Why all of the small pickups were killed off in such a short amount of time is simply more than coincidence. And saying that there isn't a market for it anymore is complete bull****. Why did the price of rangers and s10s skyrocket then? Cause everyone likes a small truck with great mpgs, thats why. The f150 cannot fill that void no matter how hard they try.

If every auto maker can produce 3 models of suvs or crossovers that all look the same, then why cant we have a small truck? And a gosh darned Jeep one at that.

I'm a truck guy that likes Jeep's. After having my Ram Power Wagon for 4.5 years I can't imagine having a different truck. Someday I'd love to add a Jeep to the fleet, but I'll always have a Power Wagon in the garage.

The new AEV Prospectors are darn nice. I would still lean towards the Raptor, but the AEV would at least be in the running.

^This. That Crew Chief concept with an Eco diesel and the part listed above would get me to sell my Tacoma. But, it would have to include the retro front end. :)

I hear ya. Sadly, the concepts like the Nukizer are mostly just that, bodywork. The JK platform lends itself well to all manner of offshoots. It's the mechanical upgrades that will sell the package. Last thing I care to see is more "islander", "Sahara" , or other wheel &sticker packages. IMHO th jk comes in 3 flavors. 2wd (wth?) Or 4x. Or the Rubicon. 2 or 4 doors optioned in both.
Now to do something similar to a J truck or milspec J8 it's a big leap. Somewhere in the middle would be a good start. Like leggos or an erector set, give us the pieces and let us finish it.
Somehow I see either a watered-down "truck" Ala brute or a beefy rubicon with its exponentially beefy price point. Guess we'll see.
