I don't feel any ruckus
but allow me to elaborate on my how I can make a statement that compares driving my rrc to driving a well appointed series vehicle.
I have mechanical (non electric) disco seats in my rangie (electric was not an option then, roll up windows (standard), no headlamp washers (also not an option) and considering that it is a 27 year old rover, no the ac does not work, (surprise to even have it installed) the doors do not fit against their seals, They didn't know what a pollen filter was when they made it, and i have duct tape over the hood ducts because it blows cold in winter and warm in summer. the rear lift gate doesn't stay closed, there is no carpet/insulation (at the moment). The electrics are still Lucas. When driving it sometimes goes left, sometimes goes right, almost never does the same thing twice.
ON the other side. yes it is an automatic, yes it has coils, and more headroom (after modifying the seats) It even has a radio, that is normally turned off since you cant hear it over everything else. No, the seat backs don't slam into you when off-roading. It is "so nice" that my best friend who used to off-road with me in various series vehicles won't anymore. 'Course he wont camp at events anymore either. So as far as my experience goes, yea, its kinda like driving a series vehicle. Is it the same? NO but its not as far off as you would think.
True newer models with more stock equipment are plush, (I hear) but I have never had one.
I have to admit that I like that I have a very utilitarian Rover. Its not a Series, because I didn't want to have to put a defender windscreen and doors etc... to allow a view of the road. Although with a garrage now, it could be a future project.
