That is a really clean looking trailer. Nice can holders on the tongue.

I wonder on the fenders if you could cut them in half, spread them apart and weld in a small flat section at the top. That way you could accommodate the larger tires as well as keeping some of the original shape??

This photo would crystalize what type of fender treatment to apply to my trailer if the tow-rig and trailer were mine!

You have a beautiful setup in the works, Nic! GREAT work so far!

The trailer is coming along very nicely!
With your skills, I'd make a set. Not very hard to do. We made up a set for my friend's trailer using cardboard to lay it out then cut up some 1/8" steel plate, bent it using a home made metal bender in a shop press then welded it up. Came out lookin great. I'll see if I can find some pictures.

Cheers,
P

This is what I'd do!
That, or cut off the inner & outer lips and weld or rivet them to a wider rolled band. My grandfather did it this way (riveted) on the utility trailer I'm about to inherit.

That trailer is looking a lot different than last summer. The truck is too -

It's a Blacksmith/fab table. It has tons of jigs that goes with the table too (clamps, pegs, and etc..). It makes life much easy in the fab world when you have to do piece after piece.

Those are really nice tables to work off of. Very expensive too. Whom ever scarred it with the grinder needs to have his hands slapped. :)

I have the slam lock set up

It does work well and is a very clean set up but..

If I were to so it over again (which I might) I would copy AT's lock/clamp design.
(apologies to Mario and Martyn)

The reason is it is more of a compression lock and you can really clamp it down onto the weather stripping for a tight seal. And the mechanism is all on the outside, no need to worry about something getting stuck or out of adjustment (where you can't get the lid open) Ask me how I know when we are around the campfire...:smileeek:

I am planning on one of these on each end of the lid to keep it closed.
