How are you going to mount the tent to the lid? Roof rack, or welded mounts?

On my frame......I have three supports in the middle......The RTT will mount flat on my lid with some rubber spacers....

Got my tent today!:wings:

I can't wait to see this thing all tied together; rtt, bt3-c, red tacoma, etc.

Congrats on the new goodies and excellent build details in this thread. Nice work as always.

More Lid Construction

Got the lid welded on and the Gas shocks for the lid mounted

Due to the trailer having a tailgate...I need to add another cross bar to beef things up plus have some where to mount the rear shock!

Need to drill and put a through-bolt on both sides to make it more solid.

Hinge is all welded in! Works great!

Overall.....very happy how the gas shocks worked out....Opens and closes very smooth....With having the 150 pound shocks.....When i put the RTT on...It should come down a little easyer with the added weight.

Looking great Nic.

Clever rear shock set up - I was wondering how you were going to work that out. :Astrologist:

Looking good. Where are those jerry can holders from? Are they designed specific to the Sceptor cans or will the steel NATO cans work too?

We are temporarily out of stock on the can holders.

The price of the raw materials increased significantly so we are shopping the design around to various fabricators trying to reduce the cost of manufacturing. So far we haven't had much luck, and we do not intend to have them made overseas to save a buck.

I'll be putting a notice that we are out of stock on the www.adventuretrailers.com web site and I'll change that when I have a date they will be back on our shelves.

Excellent work Nic. :clapsmile

Great photos and details. You've created the blueprint that any other Bantam owner could follow. Very cool to see you bringing new life into an old workhorse.

Nice work.

Of lids, hinges, gas struts and can holders

Nic,
Very clever on the gas strut mounting. You are making steady progress on the trailer, job well done.

I'll be keeping and eye out for the notice. Hopefully you will be able to source them for approximately the same price.

Looking great Nic

I'll be interested to see how your "piano" hinge setup holds up to the elements. I ended up replacing my first hinge after a couple of years, had I done better job of keeping it clean and lubricated it might have lasted longer?

Great point here Kurt!.....What did you replace it with?? (SS or just steel)

Mounting options with the steel were great....Price was cheaper than others (SS, Alum).......I'm going to have to keep her all lubed up and store out of the weather......Little WD-40 after trips and a few shots of lube to keep the rust out.....

Time will only tell......Going to keep a close watch on this...I want it to last for years!
