Question about hydraulic systems on a series IIa

If you're going to get a new frame, why not have it powder coated? Wouldn't that be the best protection? And if so, getting a galvanized frame would be pointless: The zinc would be sand blasted off in prep.

Looking for Advice on Where to take the Family EXPO after Disney Land, HELP NEEDED!!

Well, I particularly like the Jumbo Rocks area of Joshua Tree.... And from Anza Borrego, head east to the western side of Salton Sea, take Hiway 86 up to Palm Springs then 62 to Joshua Tree... And if you have time and interest, Mt. Palomar (where the BIG telescope is) isn't too far from...

Question about hydraulic systems on a series IIa

I used to have a series (long wheel base with a short-block chevy and converted electrical)...Sold it when I went to med school, since I didn't have parking space for it in the new digs. Now my wife wants one! I told her I'd show her how to work on it, but it'd be her maintenance joy...

Expo First Aid Kits-- What to Carry?

There are a couple of planning considerations that have to be made: What are the levels of training of the people on the trip? I carry stuff that you probably shouldn't. How long is the trip going to be? A day? A year? Where will it be? If you're going to be on a (say) boat crossing the...

    Experience with BucketBoss bags?

I use them all the time, for all sorts of things - I got a set of two (one big, one smaller) at one time: The big one holds all my handheld radios and accessories, the smaller one my telecom/IT tools. I also use a variety of their tool rolls, and GI tool bags and tool rolls for various tool...

    The best adventure travel boots.

And the Nepali / Sherpa have genetic adaptations to the cold, and a lifetime of not wearing much in the way of shoes at all. Unfortunately most of us don't. Further, they (the Sherpa) have to do it that way: because their feet are so wide (especially across the toes) getting hiking boots to...

Expo First Aid Kits-- What to Carry?

Thats what I do...And lots of inexperienced people (even those with EMT certs) ask the same question... I'd recommend getting a first responder (or even better, Wilderness First Responder) class...

Expo First Aid Kits-- What to Carry?

What level of training do you have? And every pre-packed kit I've ever seen was sorely lacking on the sheer quantity of bandaging materials that are necessary. From bandaids to big ones, they are too light, while filling up the kit with useless crap. A couple boxes (say, 50) 4x4 sponges...

    Film Processor Madness

I haven't shot a frame of film since 2001, I think. Except for collectable cameras I don't even own a film camera any more. I always wanted a 'blad, and now I see they have digital backs for them! Don't want one that much $$$$ though.

    Film Processor Madness

I have an old Speed-Graphic (military surplus, with all the accessories including the flash grip, in a fitted case). Does anyone make a digital back for one? The camera is probably good to go, I had it completely rebuilt, shutter retimed, bellows replaced, etc. about 10 years ago: I figured I...
