Is it spring yet? I want to see the price options on this Jeep.

    Which Jeep Model & Why?

This thread might be getting off topic with TJ vs JK/JL stuff. OP is willing to spend $25k I doubt a 13-22 year old jeep is going to be the winner for daily commuting. I did some daily commuting in my LJ but I worked 12 hour shifts, I was able to deal with it for a while. Once you drive...

    Which Jeep Model & Why?

    1. What kinda of commute? HWY? Back roads? Alotta miles? What kind of off-road? We talking lockers and 35’sand challenging or mild? GC is nice ride maybe too nice for tracking dirt in and out of. Wrangler nice enough and clean leans up easier than a GC. 2. JKU or a GC wouldn’t be sweet and...

    Lunchbox lockers!

I had a lockrite in the front of my TJ and YJ and in the rear of my Samurai. They weren’t difficult to install. Just dedicate the day to stinking like diff fluid.

D rated options in the venerable 255/85-16

Its true you get lots of feed back from "know it all" lol. I ran 4:88's on my 4cylinder 5 speed YJ with 33x10.5 BFG KM's and it was great. if my current jeep was a manual I would go 4:56 and 33's for sure, but as an auto I am leaning towards 4:11 and 32's of some kind. But, after seeing your...

D rated options in the venerable 255/85-16

I love that setup looks great!!! I just called a local shop yesterday about changing gears on my TJ/LJ form 3:73 to either 4:11's or 4:65's and I was quoted only $1,300 Have you gotten quotes on a gear change? I can't see a Tacoma being much more expensive.

    Improving 4.0l MPG

This is an interesting thread, if I could squeeze even 18MPG out of my 2005 LJ I would be thrilled. It got 20'ish when it was bone stock on 30's, then I put it on 33x10.5x15 BFG MT's and it dropped to 12-16 mpg's. Now it is on 31's and it barely does better than 14 mixed city/highway. I once...

I forgot the most important part of my post lol. Yes 4:88’s

    4.56 or 4.88s?

In my 1995 YJ with 2.5L and manual transmission I ran 33x10.5x15’s, I got 22MPGs around town and 16-17 at highway speeds of 70-75MPH. I had zero regrets with those gears.

When shopping for used, how much does a rebuilt engine and trans add to the value?

It doesn’t increase the value. That’s like when people who try to factor their addon accessories on top of the blue book price. Just comes down to the market, my LJ might sell for more than blue book if the right buyer really wants it, same with my Tacoma. But my Subaru I sold for just below...

    Jeep interior compatibility

Or a TJ with a CJ title and VIN plate :)

    Jeep interior compatibility

Pretty sure a line on a cheap TJ would be your best bet, even if someone gave you the CJ-7 what you want is a serious undertaking. It would be easier to retro fit a CJ grill and YJ leafs to a TJ, check out @jscherb 's LJ with a CJ front end!

    TJ Suspension

I got my OME set up through DPG Off Road and I am pretty happy with it. My only regret is not getting the HD springs in the rear. It rides great but, I feel like it would handle even better if I had the HD springs in the rear as opposed to the standard ones.

@PCO6 I keep searching for some Moab wheels locally, I really like the way yours looks. But even with those, I still couldn't run the hub kit. I ll have to price out some steelies and DT's this weekend @BoldlyGoingLJ I know you were talking about losing the LJ, I just happen to lust after some...

Better late than never 2005 LJ build.

@BoldlyGoingLJ I doubt a week long trip is in my future, but overnights and weekenders for sure. We took the Tacoma to Moab strictly for comfort driving over the rockies. I wanted to rent an Offroad teardrop and sleep on the white rim but the GF veto'd that when she decided she wanted to...

Better late than never 2005 LJ build.

Awhile back I posted about giving up my LJ and Tacoma in favor of a 4-door JK/JL. But after some discussion and soul searching I decided to stick with the LJ since I already have it and I don't owe anything on it. I have been sitting on this thing since 2008. I have no clue where the past 10...
