RTT hanging off back of rack?

I do it, mine hangs off the rear of the rack maybe 3-4", no problem so far. I've seen vehicles with tents hanging more than that, but I wouldn't recommend it. I don't see it being an issue, I certainly havent had one.

Sure-Fire Ways to Improve Your Roof Top Tent

I've left PJ's, full-size pillows, blankets and other stuff in the tent when changing campsites. It closed without trouble. If the sleeping bag will only be used on the RTT, you can leave it in there. If I were you, I would leave it as flat as I could so that the tent will close as easy as...

    Brake shields

Well I really Can't tell. I once caught a fish with one of those things. I was changing my front pads, when I took off the flimsy shield to remove the caliper, I saw the damn fish, cooked to perfection. Must've been there a good month. My driving involves a bunch of water crossings to get to...

Why no SAS on "expo" type trucks???

It's all about pros and cons. When modifying a vehicle, you need to know exactly what it'll be used for in order for the mods to make sense. For example, my vehicle usually gets driven on dirt, gravel roads and double tracks at speeds of 40-50mph. To get there, I usually drive long distances on...

Reliability Toyota --- Coming from a Land Rover Owner

This is totally true. I've only driven Toyotas but based on everyone's experience with any sort of LR (be it Defenders, RR, or Discos), reliability for Toyota is way above LR, Even if they have improved recently..

    2005-2014 Tacoma Safari Snorkel

If you're handy or know someone who is, you can fab a mount for the light using the snorkel's A pillar mount. It has become fairly common here in Venezuela. My truck has one, though I'm planning on replacing it with the standard A Pillar brace because I don't see a use for it, therefore there...

    Jerry Cans Plastic vs Metal

I use plastic cans, mainly because it was what I first saw when I had the need to buy them. These are Blitz cans, when filled to the proper lever they don't leak even when its hot out. My altitude changes are too low to take into consideration. When I go fishing, Yamaha outboard tanks are used...

    Car Camping Stove

Coleman 2 burner stove. I've used one since I can remember, my dad used the early white gas version and I've used both the dual fuel and the propane only version. I use propane, I think its safer to travel with a small, refillable, 3kg propane tank than with a bottle of white gas, and when you...

    Greenbow County JDM Expo Build

I'm interested to know what a factory fridge looks like on a 4Runner, I've never seen them. Also I didn't know they were manufactured by Engel. I've seen them on the 80 series. As a matter of fact there's an 80 in my family with one, but I've never seen them on 4Runners.

Do you leave your Awning mounted??

I leave mine one. It sits flush with my roof rack and runs the exact length of the roof, so it doesnt bother anyone. It is a bit noisy though...

    Which Land Cruiser?

Agreed. The gas engine in it is actually the last version of the 1FZ-FE, which is coil ignited, and is shared only with the 70 series LC. This means it shares parts with both the 80 series and the 70 series regardless of the model year. I have absolutely no knowledge on diesel LC's, i'm not...

    Which Land Cruiser?

The pictures you posted are 90 series Land Cruiser Prados. I've had both 4 door and 2 door, manual and auto, 4cyl and V6. They're awesome, I love mine. However, they are lighter duty mechanically than both the 80 series and the 100 series. They are mechanically the same as the same-year...

    RTT on a DD

I take it off between trips. And I hate it every time I do it. But, for me, its a necessary evil. The issue for me is parking structures. Almost every parking structure down here is underground and have low ceilings, even my home garage. I can barely fit into them without the tent. Without it...

    BETWEEN IRONMAN AND ARB

They're direct competition, so their products are pretty much the same quality wise! As far as suspension goes, Ironman kits are a bit stiffer than their OME counterparts, but they both handle very well. The only downside to Ironman is that their shock bushings are CRAP. Maybe this is an issue...

    LED Back Up Light Opinions

while LEDs will surely outlive you, cheap lights probably wont. If moisture can get inside the lamp, it will deteriorate it sooner than you might think. Even more so when you drive treated roads in the winter. If you want them to last, get a set of quality lights, sealed with IP ratings. If...

    Crocs?

There's nothing as odd looking as a pair of Crocs. That said, they're as close as you can get to being barefoot without actually being barefoot. They're awesome for fishing, and we use them a lot for camping as well, where you don't have to take them off when walking in the sand, in the water...

    Post your tents

My third tent. Basically a Venezuelan branded, Chinese version of an ARB Simpson 2 (or Ironman, or TJM, or any other chinese made tent) Being chinese doesn't really take away from the quality, which I'm pretty happy with. I've only had venezuelan made tents and the build quality usually leaves...
