    Help me size my chain

a 20' 3/8 grade 70 chain weighs roughly 31.5 lbs compared to a 20' length of 5/16 weighing 21.5 lbs. this is with clevis hooks installed. both are heavy and cumbersome. i recently opted for the 3/8 chain under the adage of "better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it".

    Oversize Base for Hi-Lift Jack

how big of a base is sufficient without being too bulky to carry? i have some ground rated pt 3/4 ply leftover from a recent job but i think it's about 8 inches wide at best. do you think two strips on top and two glued perpendicular to get a 16 x16 square would work out?

tool and spare kit for 05+

my 07 tacoma doubles as my daily driver for carpentry work, and my adventure rig (mostly long road trips with fire roads and trails thrown in - no heavy off-roading). i'm looking for suggestions on what to carry as far as tools and spares for extended travel with light off-road use. i chose...

in the pic the smaller one looks notched to hang off the bed rail.

    Holy Overpriced Tacoma Storage Solution!

i could be wrong, but that small toyota box doesn't look compatible with a cap. it sits over the bed rail, and is vertical. most caps need utilize the full width of the bed rail and also start to cant inwards to follow the lines of the back of the cab.

expedition style build up of my '90 Toyota pickup

man, your truck is looking great! did you remove the side bin from the cap on the drivers side? i didn't know they were removable. i've been considering a similar cap for my truck and the side bin would be great for work, but not so great for travel and camping.

    diesel in jerry cans?

my understanding was that the wedco cans used the same gasket material for both diesel and gas cans. i'll probably pick up some spare gaskets to have on hand anyway.

    diesel in jerry cans?

brut4s- i'm completely aware that the fuels are not compatible. what method would you recommend for cleaning the cans before using for diesel. my current set-up is gas, but in the future would like to get a diesel. i was checking for future reference that it is possible to use the red cans...
