best materials to use for interior construction - not wood

The floor in my 1974 Apache was plywood and totally rotted, especially behind the wheels where road debris had been kicked up on it for who know how many miles. It had a long life and I replaced it with more plywood because I couldn’t afford anything more exotic. The replacement plywood was...

best materials to use for interior construction - not wood

After removing a lot of rotted wood from the inside of a 40yo boat, I am also concerned about using wood in areas that may potentially see water. In the boat, I used polyurethane product, like Coosa board, with fiberglass over the top. For the truck interior, I used 1/2” PVC product, like...

I decided to build my own Pop Top camper

I used 1/2” PVC board on my interior and it requires some support to not flex, my largest span is about 18” and you can stand on it, but it moves. If you’re trying to use 1/8” PVC or FRP to keep soft insulation compressed in small spaces, it come out looking like the Michelin Man. This wouldn’t...

Who's lining up to buy a 2023 Sequoia and NOT a 2022 Tundra?

I understand why Toyota put the third row in, but it’s not necessary for all buyers that may be interested in the Sequoia. For me, I’ll take the second row captains chairs and a third row delete. I’d love to have the storage volume back from that third row, rip ‘em out! ?

    Temporary Diesel Heater Install?

For a week only? Leave the heater outside on the ground and have it exhaust hot air up through a cracked window, seal the cracked window with a blanket, towel, or similar. Take the 12V direct to the battery. Don’t worry about the hot air intake, it should heat outside air just fine. Make sure...

    100W Simple Set Up

From my limited experience only: I’ve gone MC4 to SAE with no issues. I’ve had MPPT controllers and the only issue I’ve seen is that they typically want to see from the solar panel >5V above the charging voltage of the battery, so you need to be sure the solar panel will output that level of...

Gladiator Pop-Up Pass Through Camper Build

After years of chasing various budget-friendly foam solutions in our truck shell, tent trailer, and Flippac, everything we tried, from firm to soft, left us with sore hips and shoulders. I finally bit the bullet and purchased an Exped Megamat Duo air/foam mattress, it’s really great. Inflate it...

ExploreDesert - Into the Mojave - Baker Area

Ah, so these aren’t bars where people are selling goods/services, just meet up spots. I assumed these were pseudo-legitimate businesses that should we should be visiting/supporting. Totally agree with not sharing wilderness locations. Great report!

Enduro Campers - New Composite Wedge Camper

I want to know if you really drove around with the top popped ? In all honesty, I’m happy to see a number of things in Enduro campers - 1. Composite manufacturing, plastic has many so many advantages over a lot of the metal wedges and popups offered today. Insulation, compliance to bend...

I guess I’m out of the loop, but curious. Is this intended to be used with a high lift or some kind of hand winch?

Sold: 2002 FlipPac with rain fly. Newly Added Bonus: FP Ramblings from a Long-Time Owner. Must read!

@billy bee, thanks for leaving so much Flippac knowledge here on ExPo. I have the prototype maroon/tan SLO rainfly now and it’s in amazing shape for an 11 year old (?) rainfly, like brand new. If that speaks to how well you keep your things, then your Flippac is going to make someone very happy.

I noticed OVRLND Campers offers an option to pair their top with a service body. Sounds like a perfect option to me.

My Clam Shell "Tacoma Cabin" Build

How does your diesel heater go with that much tent? We have one in our Flippac and last weekend was the first time we used it in the cold. Still trying to find the right thermostat setting to limit cycling on/off of the heater. Our previous heater in our A frame tent-trailer-thing had a “low”...

    WTB flippac rainfly

I have the original SLO Canvas and Sail prototype (at least that’s what I was told). It’s in tan/maroon, which is the only reason I even consider replacing it. The rain fly is in amazing shape and I just waterproofed and seam sealed the whole thing over the summer. All battens, straps, and...

Slim battery needed, lithium or AGM

What about DIY? I’ve never done it myself, but I’ve watched a few YouTubes, so I’m pretty much an expert. ;) It seems you could configure those cells to fit you space better than off the shelf options.

Gladiator Pop-Up Pass Through Camper Build

It’s too tall for my taste, but I absolutely love this build anyways. I’ve thrown so many fiberglass ideas around in my brain and it’s so inspiring to see someone pulling it off. Thanks for the posts and keep it up! Can’t wait to see the finished product!
