A 1943 Willys Military Jeep Goes from Colo to Utah 550 Miles Off-Road

Nice. Love these kinda stories. We did something similar about 8 years ago. Our Land Cruiser Club coordinated a "all off-road" (90%) run from Denver, Colorado (started at Red Rocks) to Toole, Utah for the Cruiserfest. We covered a lot of passes, forests, water crossings and sand dunes while...

    What was your first Jeep?

That was a 1989 XJ with the inline 6 and automatic transmission and it was a beast. Super reliable and capable. Man could it scoot. It chased down many a drug dealers, bank robbers and fugitives while also pulling fellow LEO's out of flood zones, mud, snow and the occasional highway medium.

What is on your Work Bench right now?!?

Beautiful job! Beautiful Cabin! Welldone! I can relate to the upkeep on a log home. Ours is 30 years old this year and I've been researching and gathering the necessary supplies to do a full cleaning, chinking and re-staining next year.....not looking forward to it either! The price of things...

What is on your Work Bench right now?!?

Fun! When you own, drive and work "Old Junk" your kinda always tinkering on something keeping them running. The current "repair de jour" is fixing a blown head gasket on our 55 year old FJ55 LC Plow Pig, while also prepping my "Expo Scooter" for the Loveland OE Event this week!

    What was your first Jeep?

So true! Back in the late 80's and early 90's on every Saturday night there was a local skating rink that held a "ladies night" that became very popular with the local "OG's". They would show up early, cruise the parking lot, stay late and usually end the night with a fight, cutting or shots...

    Camper and Truck Photos

Before all the choices we have today I used my 1992 Toyota with a cap for many a deer camps and canoe trips in the Ozarks back in the day......loved that truck.

    NPS fines AWD owners…

BTW, this is not a new issue. It's just its time, due to supporting data, to step up enforcement. I remember when Audi Quattros from Boulder were the #1 car I was pulling off the trails. The vast majority were simply trying to get to a trail head they should have walked to.

    NPS fines AWD owners…

Generally speaking, all these "what if's or what about" would normally be handled/answered through a basic investigation prior to a summons issued, if a summons is even issued. I mean most AWD vehicles are designated that way on the registration and/or insurance paperwork which is the first...

    NPS fines AWD owners…

So there is two threads going on about this topic with similiar gripes: https://forum.expeditionportal.com/threads/nps-fines-awd-drivers%E2%80%A6.245416/ And, I'll comment on the same point about NPS LEO's. LOL......I suspect you've never met an NPS Back Country Law Enforcement Officer and...

    NPS Fines AWD drivers…

LOL......I suspect you've never met an NPS Back Country Law Enforcement Officer and therefore you have no clue what their training/knowledge base/real world life experience is regarding the ability to determine the difference between a 4wd and a AWD. I spent a lot of time at GlynCo, FLETC and...

    NPS Fines AWD drivers…

Threat letters ain't going to change anything. $500.00 fine would be a different story overtime. ......if they want to get their AWD or Rabbit Convertible out into the middle of no where to communion with nature they're going to do it.

    What was your first Jeep?

I love the love! Sorry, the best I can do is share old pictures of my long gone 1987 Wrangler YJ that I bought new and used for lots of different things. I traded that in and started my Toyota Mini Truck era....Then just before retiring I got a clean 1995 YJ to play with and eventually sold it...

2024 Colorado/Utah Adventure MotoCamp Run. Planning

Yep.......can't wait any longer! I've put a little over 600 road miles on the new bike so far. Next week I’m going to hit Section 4 of the Colorado Backcountry Discovery Route (COBDR) from Buena Vista to Gypsum, Co. To get some “dirt/mountain pass” miles on the bike. I’ll camp somewhere in the...
