There's a guy in Fort Lauderdale that has a Rover Shop. I'll PM you his email address. I wouldn't say no service records is a deal breaker depending on how comfortable you feel about checking Discos out. But it's definitely not in the plus column.

2004 Discovery II Trail for sale

Good platform -- price is much too high, IMO, for those miles.

    High Mileage?

No, I understand. A huge part of being a Rover guy is knowing what you like and being very stubborn about it. :sombrero: You'll find one. It's a lot easier if you're willing to fly somewhere and drive it back, though. And check in with Dale (Rovertrader) every now and then and see what he's...

    classic range rover diesel conversion

Er, sorry, I think I misspoke. Plenty of room for the condenser -- I'll just bolt that guy somewhere. The compressor is where I'm scratching my head because I need a pulley. Pretty sure the vacuum is only doing the brakes, unless I'm missing something. No cruise.. door locks are mechanical...

'04s can be had at decent prices, too, in your price range-ish Here's one in DC with <100k for $6500 Check DiscoWeb frequently, too. That place is a clearinghouse for built D1s and D2s.

    classic range rover diesel conversion

Cool. Issue I'm having is that I have no room to mount the compressor + pulley without getting really creative. And I'm not quite that talented, unfortunately. Eric mentioned something about replacing the vacuum pump with a gear driven unit that relocates it completely and frees up that...

Whaddya like so much about them that you aren't looking at D1s? Just curious..

Seems like the consensus is that it will out live the motor. Sounds like $400 well spent to me.

Great, thanks. Got a YouTube video of putting A/C on a 6.2 stuffed into a Disco? :sombrero:

    New Defender Concept

The wheels dominate the appearance, I think. Even if it's delivered as it looks now (it won't be), it'll have a regular old bolt pattern like any other truck and it'll look much better with steelies. The shape isn't that hideous. I see a lot of the LR3/LR4 in it, and while I don't...

    High Mileage?

I dunno dude, those are high mile trucks. Those prices are are on the higher end, too. I haven't heard of many Rover V8s running much higher than those numbers without significant work. I know there're a couple dudes on here with ~180k miles or so on their trucks, let's see what they say...

    classic range rover diesel conversion

Yeah, heard about that. Problem is I don't know what I'm looking for. Any chance you have a picture of a f'ed up damper versus a good one? Also, what're your thoughts on switching from v-belts to serpentine? And... any experience adding A/C to these? That's my next big project once I get my...

Ever consider painting that light pod to match your truck? Might look good.

Thanks for the post. If I ever picked up an old Defender project, no doubt the 6.2 would go into it as well. I'm running stock headers to a 3" pipe. It's pretty loud, in a good way.

Any built 300tdi D1 owners here?

The best part about the Land Rover community is that there is always somebody looking to buy your pile of junk from you. :ylsmoke:

Land Rover Discovery 1 or 2, or Range Rover Classic 1 or 2

You can buy them from private companies as well as from dealerships. Just read the fine print.

Land Rover Discovery 1 or 2, or Range Rover Classic 1 or 2

Yeah, there is always an element of risk buying sight unseen - but if you post the ad or link here the collective wisdom can give you a pretty good idea if it's a solid truck or not. Motors are different of course, but part of Rover ownership is embracing the crapshoot of Rover V8 reliability...
