    Pop up on full time????

Ours is kept on 99% of the time. Only comes off if I need to do maintenance on the truck or camper that I can't do with them together. At the same time ours is not used for anything else outside a camp rig.

    Questions about flex

The best I can tell you is, campers are not meant to be rolled over (flop on side, completely over, etc.). Even containers (like on big rig trucks) don't do well when flopped or dropped and they are way stronger than any camper will ever be. Figure if you roll the camper, it and it's contents...

    FWC Newbie

Welcome and congrats!!! We love our Grandby. Sounds like you got all the nice options. You might consider added the awning as it makes it really nice to have a quick, shady area. Also do the screen door now as you have to replace the whole door if you ever want to add it. We use it all the...

2007 Dodge Cummins "Power Wagon" Camper

Great looking work and love the rock rails. Question, what is your opinion of the Mastercraft seats? I assume they are the wide version of the Baja RS. I sat in one and liked it but have not talked to anyone who has actually driven in a set.

    Anyone running a TireGate?

The holder sits on top of that brack and I used SS button head bolts to fasten it. Works great and hasn't loosened a bit.

    Anyone running a TireGate?

Yes, price is the biggest hang up. I was lucky and found mine on Craigslist for a really good price but after using it, if I had to pay full price, it is an items that is worth it. Very heavy duty (actually rated higher than my hitch). and works just as it should. I made my own bracket and...

    Anyone running a TireGate?

I'm the guy with the Dodge linked above. I have been 110% satisfied with mine. It has not given me a single problem or limited any place I have traveled. We have done some fairly rough trails and tons of wash board roads. I locks into the receiver hitch with a "wedge" system that eliminates...

Venturing into uncharted waters... Looking for advice on buying my first truck.

Something you might think about, since you are local, we can setup a time where you can come check out our FWC camper. You mentioned a SB truck but I think once you get into a LB camper, you will quickly find room for 4 and 2 dogs will be very tight. I couldn't even imagine us (2 adults, 1 62...

    Northstar popup on flatbed

I have thought many times of a service body. Downside is, they tend to be very heavy, very $$$$ and some don't hold up well to real offroading.

Venturing into uncharted waters... Looking for advice on buying my first truck.

I'll let others comment on specific day to day pros/cons of specific models BUT I will put my .02 in with regards to the camper idea. If you are thinking of ANY slide in (pop up or hard side) you will NEED a minimum of a 3/4 ton truck. Don't let anyone kid you into thinking any 1/2 truck is...

Lets see that off road lighting!

I hear ya Larry. I like to get into camp before dark but given most of our travels are done during the winter, it's dark by 5pm or so. As much as we try, many times we end up getting to camp in the dark. Might only be 6pm but still very dark at that point. At this point I would rather have...

I have a pair of these on each side of the rear bumper, nice and bright! I built the light bar for the front, for a pair of IPF driving lights and a pair of Light Force offroad lights.

    '97 Dodge Ram 2500, 4x4 Cummins Powered

Yeah, I had read up on that but I am in a time crunch to have this done in the next week or so and trying to source parts wasn't in my time frame. Also, I figured since we only put about 5000-6000 miles a year on this truck, even if I only got 25K out of the hubs, that would take 4-5 years. I...
