    Medical gear

Funny story.... Was coming off a trip and hit the highway in the middle of a triathlon, watched a dude on a bike hit a rock, go over the bars onto his head. Knocked him out, I pulled over along with the other rigs in my convoy, was a water station near by with event radios. EMT with me held the...

    Medical gear

Ok prepare for RANT here.... I am a remote medical person who also works at a very large urban hospital that gets plenty "field repairs" gone wrong. Everything below is based on REAL experiences of treating people in the field with little to nothing and dealing in the ICU with all the infections...

    Snap Outfitters Treehouse campers

I have posted a number of times about how much I love mine..... After a year and a half now it has been great, I do wish I had gotten a lighter color vs black in the desert sun but my wife and I have really enjoyed using it. Mine is the one featured in the Overland Journal article :) if you want...

    Favorite Tire Repair Kit?

The Extreme Outback kit I carry has 1 big patch and a few smaller patches like you used to use on bike tubes, they can be used to with heavy thread or wire to sew up a gashed sidewall and patch from the inside. Yes you have to break the bead and either remove the tire from the wheel or lift the...

    Favorite Tire Repair Kit?

I do love the electric impacts....beats the days of trying to make my on board air setup solid enough for an air impact.

    Knowing your Center of Gravity

My sons and I do SCCA Solo fun and I was thinking about reaching out to the club to borrow the wheel scales from them My wife's company has a fork lift and they are crazy enough to help me do this stuff. Good call on the Roll Axis, I knew that from our parking lot play but didn't think about it...

    Knowing your Center of Gravity

As part of my SEMA build I was working my way through the Ford Transit Builders Guide & I came across the methods and formulas to figure out the Center of Gravity. For a road going machine this is less of a concern, but with all the off camber fun we have in the dirt it will be great to know...

    Favorite Tire Repair Kit?

Looks like I am one of the few who actually has had to use a plug kit....a bunch of times over the years. Good to hear folks carry a compressor as I agree this has saved my bacon in town when it was easier to just fill and drive to a shop.

    Favorite Tire Repair Kit?

Recently during a novice Overlander class we got to put my Extreme Outback tire repair kit to good use..... This led to my recommendations to the folks there and then after I got to wondering what others were actually using/liking. So let's hear what everyone carries, if you have actually used...

Well, this is interesting...Ford Trucks Gas Mileage Lawsuit

After VW I guess some lawyers figured they could get some money out of a settlement.....this isn't the EPA going after them and it looks like Ford self reported a concern before the suit was filed. Should be interesting to watch.

Solar Charge Controller with 120 AC input for trickle charging

Redarc Manager 30 has solar, shore power and dc-dc from the alt..... I have been looking for the same concept, it isn't cheap to find an all in 1 setup. My only other consideration is if I want an inverter then a Renogy setup that has solar & dc-dc in 1 unit and inverter/shore power in another...

Method 701's worth paying for vs something else for free

So as part of my SEMA Transit build I found that with the 5x160 bolt pattern there are only a few wheel choices available. Normally I am not a fellow that goes crazy when it comes to wheel choices. I either run a stock looking steel wheel so I can beat it back into shape if some rock attacks me...

Most stuck ambulance pics & do you really need 4x4?

Traction boards, hand winch, electric winch, recovery gear and friends.....these are all cheap ways to avoid a 4wd conversion. I do agree that often 4wd just means you will get more stuck farther away from help :)

SEMA Transit 4wd Camper Van 1/2 way done with Sportsmobile Poptop, Quadvan 4x4, Aluminess, Extreme Outback, Scheel-Mann

Really good day of phone tag today, a huge part of a SEMA project starts with research and then phone calls, then some emails if the chat went well (yeah I am not one for cold emailing people). Started with Wil at Sierra Expeditions. If you are anywhere near Phx that is a must-stop shop. He is...
