Just up in Warrensburg near Lake George. It was a good test run for both highway driving, a bit of off-road. And campability. Definitely not off the grid by any stretch but a good test nonetheless.

Sweet!! Enjoy! Should be good to go for paint. Personally I would see if a line-x place would shoot them with leftovers for cheep if I were to do it again.

I was thinking that the big side box would be a better spot for the AC unit. You can mount it higher and out of the way of your cargo area, less wire needed and the generator can go right under it in the compartment.

The rig blew me away yesterday. It's amazing how different it looks now!

I'll measure up that front compartment. I had not considered it. The upper half may not be deep enough for the unit to stick out.
My generator is going to most likely mount below the rear between the frame rails.
I do like the idea of getting it up a bit higher. Just not sure how much room I really have to work with there.

I'm gonna see if I can dig up that pull out tray that is missing in your cab. I'm pretty sure that I have a spare from the "GER" cab that is sitting in my driveway.

Yeah, you get compartments with a huge boat like mine...

Sweet! I still haven't really been able to figure out anything else I would want from it. I would be curious about any isolation system it has though.

I've been thinking about your leaf springs- maybe air bags would help get you by until you can do a full replacement, (and then help keep the ride smooth after). You had some serious bouncing in the back when you pulled away.

Not much progress here. Did mount a window ac in the spare tire compartment. It has not been hot enough to really put it through it paces.

The whole fleet is home!!
Tempted to steal some interior trim pieces off the black ambo
So far have resisted. Trying to keep if as complete as possible even though it spends most of its time sitting in a parking lot.


Really need to get cracking in wiring up the inverted and refining the electrical system.

Added a swing away rear tire carrier.
Hitch
And mounted the generator.





Could not see myself lifting that military 37 up on to the roof. Figured the back was the best place for it
Bonus: it is now easy to climb on to the roof

May add a few of the steps that Alex was kind enough to send me for additional climbability!!!

Really glad you mounted to the corner support man!

Is that a universal hitch just drilled into the end of the frame rails?

Does not lock I. Place when open. Not sure if that will be an issue. I'm happy it came out rock solid! The corner was a really good mounting point.

Hitch is for a e350. We dropped it 2" and slid it back a bit. Welded plates to rear bumper support for added strength.

It will be an issue, just whether or not making a lock would be a bigger one.

How far does it swing? You might be able to put a D ring on the side and tether it there when open.

Or maybe put a fold-down table on the back side and let its drop down legs be the support.

It looks simple and stout, no reason to mess that up with a cheesy lock unless you need it.

Ken I would totally use one of the rear door holders for an ambo to pin it in place when open. You can get them online for a good price.

Thanks.. I at first thought about going all the way across the back for two spares and or other accessories, but thought the swing out would be way too wide. Two barn doors sounds like a great idea. For now I don't think I will be carrying all that much and like the easy access the one free door.

I hope your project is going well.. so ambitious! I wish I had your skills!!!

I haven't gotten a peak at my rest door frame, but it would be cool to build the holder into the rear doors themselves. Mine are just held on by piano hinges though. I wouldn't trust them to the added weight. Maybe if they were rebuilt with heavy hinges though-bolted on the exterior?

The 37" tire would hit the box not letting the door open much if centered on one door. If off set it would have to be on the right (primary) door otherwise you would always have to open both doors.
Those tires and rims are really heavy, but it might work.

Does your rear box ac work.
I'm getting a hose made which will allow me to connect my rear ac next week. I'm almost afraid to oven the valves to connect the systems. Right now my front ac works do well I don't want to screw it up!!

I guess I have to go for it. It will be nice to ice out the rear while driving! (If it works)
