I went to a gun show the other day and came across these 20mm ammo boxes.
Besides the paint fading away a bit, they were in excellent shape. The rubber seal is in great condition.

I paint them flat hunter's green since I could not find military green in spray can.

Installed.
They will be perfect to store camping gear.

Is it just me? But I don't get the fascination of putting ammo cans (or any container) on top of the fenders. Behind them maybe (out of the wind), but not on top. As for the ammo cans (even the ones on my trailer - that will be coming off as soon as I get around to it), I find them mostly too small for much of anything.

But that said, if you're going to have them, I'd definitely be painting them black to match the rest of the trailer. Which looks awesome.

Love the extended hitch. Will make it much easier to back up and real nice to launch those get skis right from the trailer. All you need to do is put the jet ski rack on rails!

That long hitch will come it real handy if you ever get a pick-up truck camper with any amount of overhang.

Well done me lad....well done!

(Loose the ammo cans.....ruins the lines... :ylsmoke: )

Love the trailer! Function before, but including form! I have a suggestion, the ladder tie down could be 1 or both legs in a quickfist. simple, secure.

Been a while!
Busy at work and at play....a few updates to "El Burro"....

Propane! both sides.
We are heavy users of it and I don't like to run out.

Top frame for the rack was built and installed:

Rack was also installed:

Plenty of space to open the hatch.....

Moving inside.

Insulation was installed on all side walls. This stuff is great!
I still have to do the ceiling....

Inside paneling and vertical railing was done.
NO....it is not real wood, but it sure looks good!

The bar at the top of each entrance is so you can help yourself get in and out of the trailer.
Ever seen a Submarine hatch and how they grab the bars to "slide" their way to the other side?
Same concept....

Second level is done too.
I carry 2 fold up mattresses so we can sleep more people if needed. I would not have more than 2 couples or 1 couple and kids. But the real idea behind this is that I can carry my skis below, and sleep at the top if necessary (say a long trip) I still have to test this and see if there are any fumes coming out of the skis. If so, I will have to do something about it.

A couple of shots Camping in Santa Cruz over Labor day weekend.
I also installed a Foxwing Awning on the driver's side.....Loving that thing!

I realize this is an old thread but whats the hieght on your trailer? I've been toying with the idea of building a trailer similar to this.

Inside height was almost 5 feet....
Outside height, after installing bigger tires and suspension work done, was about 8 feet..

Thanks thats about the size of the one I was looking at too. Another question, why did you go with the smaller side entry door versus a larger trailer door?

Big trailer doors will make it look like....a Trailer! ha ha!
The small side entry doors give the trailer that special look. Everyone that saw the trailer always commented on the doors.
"It looks like some kind of spaceship..."

I miss this trailer....
