That' almost the same install as I've done for my Cobra 75, and its worked great. I added a disconnect point through the plastic on the side of the console, but to this day I've never disconnected it...

For antennas, the mag mounts work just fine - sometimes better than the alternatives. The problem with them is that they are more susceptible to tree limb abuse, especially when they are mounted on the roof.

I've got a 4' whip that I mounted on my ARB with a spring and a quick disconnect. I drilled into the top plate near the passenger corner, and ground down the powdercoat to get a good ground for the antenna. Not sure if I'd recommend the location, but I didn't want to drill into the body, and the bed was a no-go for me. I may move it to the back bumper at some point.

So after much running around to order the tires you guy's picked for me, I had the factory rims put into my Toyo's to use as spares. I never ran these with this size of tire and was disappointed to discover that they rub the lower control arm. Oh well. While my other rim are off I am going to powdercoat them all black.
My truck goes in on Wednesday for an alignment and tires. Costco was having an amazing sale, where I was going to get the KM2's + mount and balance for $825! Too bad they called my back an hour later and told me that the KM2's are not available and BFG told them they didn't know when they would be. So I called another tire store just to see if they could get them. No problem! When back to Costco gave them the news. They called again to report the news to their sales rep who apparently told them "No one is getting any, anytime soon."
Hmmm. Go to Advantage Tire and have them call their BFG sales rep. "No problem, I'll have them to you Tuesday." I don't quite know what to make of all this, except that I'm now going to pay $952 instead of $825.

well the question is, are you willing to fork out $127 for someone's profit? You can do a lot of good causes with that $...

In short, Yes. I'm really needing tires for my next trip and expected to pay over a grand as it is so, either way I'm not feeling too bad about the price. I'm mostly irritated that Costco seems to be jerking me around. So it's their loss. I've heard that their little sale generated quite a bit of business whith people buying BFG tires, which also = a bit of profit loss, so I understand their unwillingness to go the extra mile for me. Advantage tire felt sorry for me after I gave them my sob story, and they are giving me the tire at cost, normally they're $252/ea. I've been a loyal customer before and now will continue to be. KM2's are on their way!:victory:

Today I powder coated my wheels satin black. Yes I know they were black before but, they were painted flat black and the fake bead lock ring was bare aluminum. So now they are all black.

I was going to save the pics until after my tires get mounted tomorrow but, since you asked.......

and after

I need to put my bolts back in the fake lock ring.
I'll post tomorrow with my KM's mounted on them, if in fact I get them. I'm starting to get a little worried with all the talk of the nation wide back order ringing true.

KM2's are on

KM2's are officially on. I am feeling lucky to have gotten them as the tire guy's at Advantage told me I indeed got the last set they'll see for awhile.

First impressions: Much quieter and smoother rolling than my ol' Toyo's.
They are also more skinny than the Toyo's though they are technically the same size. Overall they look smaller to me, but that may be due to my wheels, who knows!

Hopefully this weekend I get to give'em a dirt test.

Thanx but, to tell you the truth I think it drives better with the factory wheels on. There is not a ton of difference but it is noticeable. So it's got me thinking that I may go back to the factory wheels when I take it in for a rotation. We'll see.

Yesterday I also picked up a Yakima Load Warrior Roof Basket for free.:wings:
It's a little small but I guess I'll buy or make an extension piece for it. I am going to make a new over the bed roof rack system for it too, as I have found my previous rack a little small. I am actually going to make two different mounting systems. One that goes high enough to clear my Bestop and one that sits low, just over the bed rail and sits inside the Bestop, for better organization purposes.
