ARB Field Trip

Hello from the Sierras!

HA! I dropped off the radar for a bit. I'm in the Sierras now, near Mono lake and headed into Nevada. I spent last night in Yosemite Valley. Unbelievable! Definitely a crown jewel of the U.S.A. I was lucky enough to hang out with some of the locals (camp employees) some of who were fantastic musicians and had a great little jam session. Imagine wooden chairs on a wood slat porch (nice bass acoustics with the feet tapping) and lots of stars.

I was hoping to just crash out in the FJ again (like I did in downtown Eugene. . . LOL) but they don't allow you to sleep in your car, so I had to be a good boy and pay way too much for a canvas tent room. I'm not complaining though. . . what a spectacular place to spend a night. I did a little walk to bridalveil falls just before it was totally dark, and had the place all to myself.

Ok, time to roll! On to sin city and then the push home.

cool. great photos.

glad you spent a night and had a visit with good folks instead of just driving in and out the same day.

Great pics, I'm jealous of your trip!! I'll be in Mammoth this weekend, so I just need to wait a few days to see all the beauty you're taking in.

I'm Glad I was invited to enjoy dinner and conversation with you guys. What a relaxing and enjoyable evening. Yosemite sounds like you had a blast as well. I love the Yosemite locals.

A real quick post from the road... thanks for the all of the replies, I will come back and reply/answer tomorrow. You guys rock :)

I'm in Las Vegas now. I plan to make it into AZ tonight. I may just sleep under the stars out in the desert if I get too tired to make the run home.

It's been fun!

Your Crater Lake photos are the best of the lake I have ever seen.

I swear, by your photos it's like the sun and colors come out and the winds go calm just for you as you make your way around. It's like you're blessed or something. :)

Simply stunning

KC,
You may be on to something. When you travel with Chris, it's all good karma!

These pictures just make me want to buy an FJ Cruiser.

Cheers,
P

I made it home yesterday about 2:30 am. The last leg of the drive from Vegas was really nice. Some moonlight on the landscape made things interesting, and the Hoover Dam crossing was a breeze with no traffic.

Nice Chris!

Not as sexy as your pic, but this was taken just down the road right across from the first Starbucks (can't believe I got a parking spot there!)

HA! You know the place. The original Starbucks is cool. Too bad they all aren't like that one.

Wow, thanks guys. You're too nice. :ylsmoke:

Pierre, to answer your earlier question regarding the use of the ARB tow bar: The tow bar cross-member that bolts to the underside of the bumper ends up right near the back edge of the aux. fuel tank, which is too close for comfort.

I also wanted to mention something regarding the Safari snorkel. If you have an FJ and want to order a snorkel, be sure to check and see which type of air intake you have. The newer FJ models have a cyclone pre-filter assembly that requires a different snorkel intake adapter. This adapter cannot be purchased as a separate part from Safari, so make sure you order the correct snorkel kit.

smbisig (Steve), I'll see you next month at the FJ Summit. :smiley_drive:

Old post but Im currently installing the Man-A-Fre tank and was wondering where does the fuel pump outlet hose attach? There are 2 barbed fittings - one at the top of the neck and one at the bottom. Which one is the vent is which one is the fuel inlet?

thanks!
