A few MORE improvements...

I've been looking at different ways to use this central shelf as a table in camp.

So, I was talking to XJ Mike and he had this idea to use some channel aluminum.

Added a couple lengths of small chain and some small carabiners and - voila! Table in camp!

I got this lightweight Snow Peak Giga Power Plate Burner Li at the Hollister Rally. Mmmm, stainless.
Now I only need one type of fuel canister since my trusty Jet Boil takes the same style, and these work better at higher altitudes and colder temps ;)
I may modify the table later by cutting it out to allow the stove to drop in like it does on the Iron Grill tables, we'll see how this works first.

One of the reasons I got this stove - the small footprint and low profile easily lends itself to use inside the FP in inclement weather.
Very nice :D

Very clever and usefull new additions to the ATFP Doc!
In particular I like the way you plumbed your new OBA and the multiple usage of the central shelf/swingout table.

BTW, that sure is a cute little kid you have there. Our 4 1/2 yo daughter has also been our faithful explorin' / campin' compadre since she was able to walk. She was a major reason for going to the ATFP from the previous RTT setups too. :wings:

The basics - one burner and coffee!!! What else could you need?

Kelty Car Tarp and Shade Plan!

Looking to add some outside shaded living space to the FP.

Enter the Kelty Car Tarp: http://www.kelty.com/p-126-car-tarp.aspx

I will attach this via a couple of "eye bolts" (looking for something a little more refined so please chime in if you have a suggestion) at the rear of the FP so that the shade/covered area is at the tailgate where I need it.

I'll use the included Kelty poles in conjunction with some Nite Ize carabiners I picked up for 550 cord management: http://www.niteize.com/collections/carabiner-figure-9

Tied down to my Snow Peak tent pegs this should take all of five minutes to set up and it won't be going anywhere when the wind picks up ;)

I'm also trying to choose between the Camping Labs awning for the driver side (with the side panels that can be a bathroom/shower/multipurpose room) or possibly the Fiamma (I prefer the hard case for UV protection but there are no wall panels IIRC). Decisions, decisions...

Stay tuned!

I was thinking something along the same lines but with one of those shade houses, 10x10 or 12x12.

I still have the Fiamma on the want list for the side. On the back I'd like to have a screen house but that will be late in the game. Heck I haven't even tried out my tarp/pole combo to see how it will work on the back.

FRP Customer Service

Took it in to FRP today and received outstanding customer service. Diane and the staff there took good care of me, it's nice that they're 30 minutes from my house ;)

One of my hinges was showing some cracks (bad batch) so it was replaced under warranty. They re-did the silicone around the hinges and I was able to talk to the techs and get some insight into where to/not to mount hardware or an awning to the shell.

Suntinez (Linda) came down from her mountain retreat and met me at FRP for some horse trading and we did lunch and a couple beers at a local BBQ joint :chowtime:

It was a good day :victory:

Not sure what/where you want to put eye bolts on the back but here is an idea that allows you to remove the eyelet and just leave a nice, clean "bump" mount. Then clip in the eyelet when you need it.

BTW, if you're interested in these, I happen to have a new pair that I would be willing to part with since I have stuff I have to get from you. :D
