Gladiator Pop-Up Pass Through Camper Build

@BritKLR, are you still exploring the Rockies with the Kawasaki KLR?

I'm still looking for a light bike to mount on the back of the Gladiator, so I don't have to break camp to go exploring.

I like the thumper KLR, but too heavy for a camp bike. I was thinking about a Kawasaki 300 KLX on the large side or an electric Surron bike on the light side. My mountain bike is fun, but I'm getting old. Any thoughts?

I love what your doing and building!

As for a "camp bike"/"runabout" I gotta say the Surron is an amazing option.
I love KLR's (both large and small) but, for most camp duties and exploration and easy of loading/unloading I'd go with the e-bike.
Jerry (owner of Tembo Tusk/skottle) has had one bouncing around on the back of his Tacoma for over 5 years now and it still runs like new. He let's me play on it at every O/E event.

Just last year I had move to the side of a shelf trail on Engineer Pass to make way for a couple of guys riding them while running the pass from Lake City to Silverton, Co. so I'd say they're capable.

I have a KLR 250 Super Sherpa and a Yamaha ZUMA 125 scooter as my "pit bike"/"event bike" but while I love em both I can see one day moving to Surron type full suspension e-bike.

Cheers and good luck. LMK if you ever make to the Rockies!

Here's my pick for a camp bike for overlanding. It's light, powerful, street legal (maybe?), and a bit bigger than most for a 6 ft. tall guy. Getting these e-bikes licensed for the road sounds like it's still a bit sketchy. I think my biggest issue would be how to charge the bike off-grid, since my power supply is pretty small.

Surron and Talaria have very similar e-bikes.

It's impressive how far e-bikes have come.

We finally have some beautiful weather coming up this weekend, so I'm loading up the Gladiator for some camping.

I'm thankful that I left 18" of open bed space at the back of my camper. I use this all the time for groceries, gas cans, coolers, or easy to reach camping gear. I'm glad I left this area open.

Tried to beat the heat up here in Northern CA. Took my younger son up the mountains far a quick overnight trip after work.
Made some steaks. Shot some guns. Enjoyed some tunes.

It was still too hot though!IMG_5653.jpegIMG_5647.jpegIMG_5633.jpeg

Call me jealous! The only clear water we get like that around here is coming out of a faucet.
Hah, you might be right there, but I remember some good times tubing down the Guadalupe in New Braunfels, and driving/camping on the beach in Corpus Christi and Padre Island. I stopped surfing last time I saw a 5 ft. hammerhead next to me off of Bob Hall Pier!

Here's an interesting fact, Texas Beaches are considered Public Highways. Just don't drive in the sand dunes, as most of it is a protected National Park.

Yeah over near Austin and San Antonio it is a different world. Much nicer area's. Unfortunately that is about three hours away.

There is a girl in my office that was in Padre a few weeks ago and saw a woman get bit by a shark. The ladies husband went over and started punching the shark. The story was crazy.
