How to make the roof top canvas bag hold its shape?

I'd like the Keeper canvas bag I use on the roof top to hold its rectangle shape (4"-6" high) is good enough. I'm thinking of finding/building some sort of inserts but not sure what to use. Something made out of file folder/binder type material or those white honey comb type sheets used for the faux ceiling and even packing material? Anyone got any suggestions? :)

I think you'll need something fairly strong. What about 2" foam board? You could cut it into strips and build a perimeter box to put inside the bag.

I just picked up a bag myself. Might have to try this.

That's a great suggestion but those foam boards are fairly rigid so they'll probably snap every now and then. I was thinking of something that may take some bending yet springy enough to pop back in shape.

Maybe hardboard masonite? Or 1/2" acrylic plexiglass? (maybe thicker plexiglass so doesn't crack)

^ Ah good question. It would just make my life a bit easier when putting things in it while it's on the roof rack. Right now standing on the rock sliders, holding on to the roof rack and trying to shove a camping chair in it I'm aways wondering if it's all the way in or if I'm going to poke a hole in it etc. Said another way with a rectanglar shape it'll be more like putting things into a box as opposed to say a leaf bag :)

I made a frame for the Trasharoo out of PVC to help hold its shape. Same thing might work for a roof top bag.

The frame made from PVC pipe.
