mine is a 77 CJ7
stock 304 V-8
stock 3 spd. trans
running a model 44 in rear
changed low range gears in transfer case to low range gears from early bronco (forgot what change it made in ratio)
33x12.50 BFG
4.10 gears
had a detroit locker for many years in rear, got tired of its on road manners and yanked it
6k warn winch
2" lift from add a leafs
this Jeep was my daily driver for almost 20 years since the early 80's.
it has been through the Rubicon (way back when you could still camp wherever you wanted to!)
I rarely drive the Jeep anymore, my son wants me to get it spiffed up so he can use it to drive to school when he gets his license
I also have a 1946 1/4 ton Bantam civilian trailer that goes behind this jeep
a co-worker has a 74 CJ5 with around 50k original unmolested miles

My history with Jeeps goes WAAAAAAAAAY back.

Grandpa's 1952 M38a1. I learned to drive in this vehicle. Our family actually had three at one point, and they were used in Southern Utah for Deer hunting.

This is my first Jeep, a 1953 M38a1 with some CJ body panels. I ruined it by removing the four and putting a 300+ hp 289 4V in with the stock driveline, with disastrous results... I learned so much though about what really worked on the trail.

1983 Jeep CJ-7
Much better result here, with lockers, upgraded axles and good flex. Full rebuild of the I6

1993 Grand Cherokee
Good Jeep. 31's and a Tera Flex system and it could wheel
1993ZJovens_jpg.jpg

1996 Grand Cherokee
Not so good, with lots of issues, but with no lift and 30" tires it did most of the high mountain trails in Colorado
zjco_jpg.jpg

1998 TJ Sahara
Great Jeep. TeraFlex and 33x10.5's No time to use it and sold the truck to put Stephanie through school.
MVC-015S_JPG.jpg

1994 YJ Sahara
Lots of goodies, still drive it, kind of for sale
Picture%20013_jpg.jpg

The TJ was the overall best of the bunch.

Joel should do an article about this beast. What a legend! Besides, we want to hear these stories and tales.

You'd better hurry while the roller fairlead w/ steel cable units are still at that phenominal $529 price. (quadratec, 4wd.com, and a few others have it). :)

Agreed, Mario's MJ is a sweet Jeep, and one of my favorite Expedition ready vehicles.

Chris, your Cherokee can only be described as FIRST CLASS!

I agree, your Cherokee looks like something out of a DaimlerChrysler catalog! Very nice :)
