You shouldn't need a spring compressor for this. Disconnect the sway bar and shocks, jack the truck up, put jack stands under the frame and with the suspension hanging all the way, you should be able to swap them pretty easy.

Doesn't make sense to me to put the longer spring on the passenger side... but OK, I'll take the professional's word for it. :sombrero:

We put both "A"s on drivers side and both "B"s on the passenger side.

The B should be the taller of the two. The B should be on the driver's side on US market Land Cruisers.


If they were mislabeled, the taller springs should be on the driver's side.

We'll have the springs swapped in about 30 minutes. We have a system down.:ylsmoke:

And sorry for being hard headed and dumb but on the Australian market trucks the "A" spring is designed for the left side (as you sit in truck) and "B" for right side (Driver's side).

At least I knew there was some sort of a difference when we mounted the springs.

Ordered a CB for the 80. Got to rush to get it ready for the trip to Amado. The big 80 will be our mule for the trip. It will be loaded down and hauling a trailer. Can't have an "ExPodition" without an LC along as the support rig!


A question for the gurus about gearing:

What are the gear ratios for my transmission. If they were the same as my 4Runner, I would swear that I'm running with 4.88s. Could someone chime in to help my 80 series ignorant self?

I'm not a guru , but I did sleep in a Holiday Inn express once....

I'm not sure what the ratios are in an A343 (95+), but I would assume they are close to the A442F in 93-94.

1st 2.95
2nd 1.53
3rd 1.00
OD 0.765
R 2.678

And all US 80s came with 4.11 axle differential gears.

Just finished installing THULE roof load bars...

And a receiver hitch, as well as diff fluid changes..........

You can see in the photo above the accentuated 'cruiser lean'... going to swap them around this weekend and add some packers if needed.

Overland Expo will be there next year. Expect a bigger trip next year with multiple groups travelling multiple routes.
