Here are some pictures of the new headliner that I installed. I wanted to keep it original but they don't make the headliner material that I had. I thought this custom fabric was cool.

And finally, some recent shots of the Wagoneer in its new location. Work currently has us in Virginia.

And so the transformation of the Waggy continues. I hope to make some more modifications that will make it a little more expedition friendly.

On the list are:

New front bumper and winch
Some type of rocker protection
Storage for the rear cargo area
high-lift jack
fuel can mounts somewhere
re-install my HAM radio
and so on..........

More updates to follow. Thanks for reading!!

Trade usernames? Haha, mine really has nothing to do with jeep wagoneers, just something my Volvo 850R wagon was nicknamed in high school.

Awesome truck, someone babied that thing before you picked it up.

I like them all. You have been blessed.

Thank you sir! I truly have been. I have some good friends that have helped me along the way.

Nice! Your post and pics bring back memories of a 1977 GW and a 1978 Cherokee wagon I owned in the early 80's. Tried to get the stock '78 over Pearl Pass...but that was a bit more trail than it was capable of. But still had lots of wonderful adventures in them.

Thanks!

You are very welcome!! Its funny how many people stop me and make comments like "My grandpa used to have one of these." or " I had one of these a few years back. Best 4wd I ever owned. Thing would climb a tree!" haha. Glad I could help bring back some warm fuzzies.

:wavey: hello from mountain home. love you wagoneer i too have always liked these jeeps keep up the good work.

Hey man! I recognize your name from planet4x4. We are flying home to Boise for the holidays! I can't wait to be back in Idaho!!!

Love this FSJ. Nice work...

Thanks man! I appreciate it.

Haha, Volvo wagons are sweet! It was babied. The original owner used it to go from their house, to the cabin. Other than that, it sat in the garage.

I have had my eye on this trailer for a couple of years. I plan to see if it is still there when we fly home for Christmas. It is made from a J10 short bed. The body lines would match the Waggy perfectly. How cool would it be to make this my EXPO trailer? Do a shackle flip lift, throw on some 35's, mount a roof top tent on it, add some storage drawers, and spare parts................

Great looking rig and that vintage radio/cb is beyond cool...now if only I could find one of those for my 70 burb.

Really enjoyed the build story, now I am looking forward to some trip reports from Virginia.

Great rig and great story. Really nicely done. In fact, all your trucks have been cool and like a trip down memory lane. Best of luck with it.

Thanks man. I dig your burb too!! My buddy picked up a sweet '72 burb a couple of years ago. He is slowly building it up. I will get some trips planned and make sure to take lots of pics.

How did you get the headliner material to stick? I have attempted this before with spray adhesive and it didn't stay stuck when the summer heat arrived. Fantastic build with lots of TLC.

Very nice. Like others, I have a soft spot for FSJ's.

Thanks!

On this particular head liner board, I removed the old head liner material then just flipped the board and used the back side to adhere the new stuff too. I just reversed the bends and popped it back in. Its been about 4 months now and it is still holding strong. I also used some pretty expensive adhesive. When it comes to the adhesive, I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for.

I am trying to decide on a front bumper. With my current job, we move about every 12-24 months. It makes it pretty difficult to accumulate the tools I need to do my own fab work. I really want to build my own front bumper but realize that it probably wont happen for a while. With that said, I have two options. I can either buy a pre-fabbed bumper from BJ's Off Road, or find a shop to build me one. I figure either way I am looking at close to a grand in materials and labor.

These are the only three bumpers offered from BJ's that I like:

This one is called the Crawler. It would be $900 after shipping

This one is called the CliffHanger. Also around $900 after shipping

This one is called the PreRunner. It would be closer to $800 after shipping.

All have provisions for a winch. What do you guys think? I am having a hard time deciding on this one.
