The diesels in other countries get the 18” wheels. LRNA won’t import the diesels. So there’s at least two engine options in the UK that fit 18’s. You can only get the P400 on the X.

That is hilarious!!!! Every time my wife sees a Honda Element she says look it's a Defender.

I actually can't argue with that one. But the one thing I always said the Element lacked was off-road capability, and it would have been almost perfect. Now you can get an Element that will go everywhere a stock Rubicon can go!

I find it hard to believe this clip that is burnt on the 4cyl engine never had an issue in all the testing done by LR. Do the prototype vehicles get assembled in a different manner (more slowly, in a different location, only by the top-level workers, etc)? It just seems like something that would have occured in the inital testing phases....

Not sure what clip we're talking about but modern vehicle R&D, supplier qualification and test/cert is all an extremely well controlled process.
Not that you'd know that from reading forums. ENGINEERS ARE IDIOTS

It does seem odd- maybe it's just a one-off manufacturing issue. Jeep had an issue with several hundreds of Wranglers because a computer controlled welder got off and several were made before they realized it.

I had the same thought. They either did not test the production configuration or materials, or production/assembly yielded a configuration different than what was tested.

This would only be true if many of them have this problem. If this one is the only one, or one of a statistical few, then it's a QA escape not a design issue. I suspect this will be the case.
Rest assured LR is going over that car to see what happened.
