Nice FJC mate. Welcome to the expo, you'll love it here. And as others have said, we have a few members who are rep'n the FJC here already so you're not alone eh ;) Plus, who cares if something's "listed" as an Expo rig, if you wheel it to neat places, it is, by default an expo rig. Even if it were an old school bus, it would still be an expo rig right?

Edit: So I just thuroughly went through your thread in your sig, and I gotta say that is a one killer FJC you've got there. I really like the blackout treatment (although I agree that a black truck is harder to keep up, it just looks really cool), I'm a sucker for snorkels, and I espescialy like the bumpers. They need to make a full length roof rack like the the SD or whatever racks for DiscoI/II's. That would really round the truck out. One thing though, I think you may have the most complicated acronism/name for a rig to date ;)

Maybe etc added or re-listed as Toyota to be PC.

I don't want to see a FJ only, Taco Only, etc. Mechanically they are nearly identical so a general Toyota Forum works fine and on mechanical upgrades it is usually valid across the line.

To many subcategories makes a mess out of things.

Welcome to the forums. Look forward to some pictures.
I agree... Add it to the tag line of this forum, but PLEASE don't add a seperate forum, it's so lame when every single truck has a specific page. Next the trooper guys will want a seperate section, then we'll want a specific 1st gen Runner section, then there'll need to be a seperate Wrangler Rubicon page... and so on and so forth till there are so many sub categorys that each section only has 4 posts in it. It's a hassle IMO.

Cheers

Dave

Wow, thanks for the warm welcome everyone. :)

To answer a few questions, it yes, Black is hard to keep up, but the Raptor is not a Pavement princess. It’s being built as an Overland Expedition Vehicle. I still have an Aux fuel tank to add along with an onboard Viair system to install, Engle Fridge, I have a Custom GOBI ranger rack coming; so I can mount my (4) IPF pencil beams and some other items that would take up to much room here.

I do wheel the rig, I go to Ouray, CO and run the trails. This July we’ll be hitting Moab after the FJ Summit in Ouray this year.

I do have an out of country Expedition coming up next year, but I can’t say much more than that at this time, I can say it will be Historical.

Thanks again everyone for the warm welcome. :)

Yeh, I know, it's a friend of mines, Thats Todd's rig your talking about, his screen name is Air2air. He's runing the TC LT plus he's having Jason Demello adding a four link rear end on it now. He has some serious money tied up into it.

He likes going fast, more of a pre-runner, than what I am doing. :)

You know, thats funny, I was thinking about the lack of an FJC forum just the other day.
I concluded that we are so friendly here on portal that we have been able to welcome the FJCruisers into the Land Cruiser forum for the great trucks that they are.
I know of no other forum were that has happened, and I would be sad to see them leave.
(as long as those newbs dont start making a mess of things:sombrero: )

do you got a link to it cause i have been admiring that truck for a while.

also what was your reasoning behind getting a black fj cause i used to wheel a black truck and it was a pain with all the scratches it would get.

Yes, click on "RAPTOR" in my sig. it will take you to the build thread which is a very detailed thread with pics of the buildup.

Yeh, I know, black is not the greatest color for getting pin stipes, but I liked the TRD SE when it came out and bought it. The dealer at the time only had a yellow a blue and two TRD's. :)

I'm getting about 14mpg....It dropped alot once I started my build adding all the skids, large tires, winch, big heavy front bumper, etc. When I bought it, I got right at 21.8mpg....I wish I still did with gas prices the way they are and their not going to get any better soon....only worse...:(

Well, like we all keep saying, since they're technicaly Shortened-rebodied Tacomas, there already is a FJC forum of sorts. I think we should add FJC to the tag line of the Toy Truck forum.

Mods??

But I hear ya, these boards are far more friendly (even with grumpy ol me here ;) ) than the others, and even if you posted a FJC/Toyota question in the Domestic full sized section everyone would still reply with the ocasional comment on the wrong forum. Even then I'm still willing to bet it'd be a nice, curteous reminder.

Do you think it's the spirit and attitude alot of adopt to make friends/get along in new, different places/countries in our travels that makes the attitude here what it is? I was just kind of thnking about this the other day. I feel like the whole spirit of what were here to discuss (namely traveling, exploring etc.) is about getting by and integrating/living/surviving. As opposed to segregation, keeping a safe distance, and fear of the unknown.

Cheers

I noticed that to, the spirit and attitude is alot nicer over here...I tend to aggree, it's more than likely due to the mind set of everyone here. It's more geared towards the Adventure, Learning and Meeting new people. :)

Thanks for your post and insight!

I guess, I have been cooped up to long over at the Blue Room. ;)

Actually its not.
It has more in common with a Tacoma then any of the LandCruiser line.

In the US LandCruiser only specifies one vehicle, the 200 series.

I believe the FJ Cruiser is a North American vehicle only at this time. Its not listed anywhere else that I can find.
Here is Toyota Australia as an example.

The FJC and 4Runner are derived from the Prado 120 platform which is widely available in other countries with a diesel option. IIRC there are FJCs legally sold in some of the Persian Gulf countries.

Mike,
Thanks for the wheeling pictures. I am glad to see that you use it for its intended purpose. I really do like the rig! Great job and attention to detail.

Yes, they are now available in Saudi Arabia as far as I can tell. (anyone read Arabic?)

Let's PLEASE not get in to the whole "It's a Land Cruiser" thing.

Welcome.
