There will be pictures when its done for sure. Looks like I am going with tan, and judging by the way BigAl's YJ looks, Krylon sounds like it might be the ticket.
OverlandXJ are the old style flares more durable? I need to get some flares on mine but I havnt decided whether to go rear TJ flares all around or try to make XJ flares work. How much of your fender is trimmed?

I dont think they are more durable.. but they dont pop off with contact as the early style will allow a bolt/nut through the flare itself vs the later flare snapping into the nutstrip. I'll try to get a few pics showing you the mounting on both.

My wheelwells are uncut.

The rear TJ flares work well for a wider tire and less backspacing. Tall/skinny and close to stock backspacing works well with stock flares.

Thanks for the info. The wheels I'v got have alot of backspacing so I might end up with TJs.

I will most likely be doing the painting in about 2 weeks so there will pics around that time.

I'm not the first to OD a Cherokee...so you wouldnt be copying me! But i think i'm the first with this shade.

I used Gillespie Coatings Synthetic Enamel AJP Semi-Gloss available here www.armyjeepparts.com The owner is a friend and a former employer. If you call tell him John referred you, he carries the Tan as well.

I like the Tan as well, and considered it at one time. Best of luck with your project. I look forward to an update.

That shade looks very good, it is one of the best greens I think I have seen. Thanks for the paint info I might try him out.

I like OD Green, but boy what a hassle finding reference numbers and sources that match up to currently available paint. After hours of reading through resources like AJP and the included links, it seems that original color references have all been changed since the mid-70's, and that most paint suppliers these days use their own numbers instead of the federal listing for paints in the camo range or OD Green spectrum. Even AJP doesn't clearly offer the reference number to go with the color. Then, just when you find the color you want, it comes only in flat, or at best, semi-gloss. I could not find a source for OD Green, current federal reference 14087 (I think - it gets confusing), which should be the same color as the flat or semi-gloss OD but in gloss coat.

As for which color to choose, the tan will likely show a bit less dust and be harder to find the pin-striping that comes with off-roading, but I still like the green better.

Try Martin Senor from NAPA. When I was looking, they had it but only in gloss, which I didn't want but it sounds like maybe you do

Im not going to go the all out camo route as this is a semi daily driver, I have been leaning towards tan as well. I thought the base color on this Taco was pretty cool.

Mine's OD, but I've considered going tan, as well. If so, the Krylon is a much better color, in my opinion, than the Rustoleum tan.

Towrds the end is a FJ80 in tan that looks quite good.

I'm liking the red 60. My 4Runners paint is SHOT and its red. That would save me maga work doing the jams to make it look right.

I read the thread on the roller paint job a long time ago. If it works, it does. Since I have a compressor and paint sprayer, I didn't pay all that much attention, but it looks as if the job turned out okay.

I used to have a '65 Corvair Corsa, red with black interior, that I sold for $125 in 1971. Big mistake. Except for the engine which had a broken rocker stud and a DOA turbo charger, the car was in great shape. Now, I would fix it. Then, I didn't have the tools, time, or space to work on it, and we needed a car. Ah well.
