BFG has announced the new AT KO2 which will apparently be available in more 18" sizes than before. The one interesting size, also mentioned much earlier in this thread is a more ideal narrower but tall shape of 265/70x18 which will help with clearances at the control arms and during turns. It will be the same section width as the commonly used BFG 265/65x18 but will be 32.6" tall vs 31.5" tall.

Unfortunately, no, the fuel range is one of the least important downsides of the LR3/4 as it is the very easiest to deal with by simply bringing extra fuel in jerry cans or by adding another tank both of which can easily double the range.

There is a long list of things much more limiting such as the tire size/fitting, ridiculous oem procedure to access the spare.

Perhaps I should have stated, "For me, This is one of if not the biggest downside the the LR3/LR4."

I have solved the other issues you describe. Rear tire mount solves the access issues. I also run a 33" tire and have addressed the bump stop and clearance issues. I have used my jerry can twice to get me to the next stop. Once on trail and once when the gas station was also out of gas. The range of my LR3 for the type of travel I do is the biggest downside. If you have a known source for the Long Ranger I would appreciate that information. I have not been able to find a way to get one here. I have also not been able to source the Front Runner tank. I have reached out to them as they are just down the street. Both the Long Ranger and Front Runner have fitment issues with the filler goose neck. The NAS LR3 has a different filler from what I understand. I do not think that they are DOT and emissions approved. This does not mean unsafe or polluting but rather not tested and certified. I have considered building my own tank. I have considered using a tank from Fuelsafe as well. For me this and lockers are the last problem to be solved on my LR3. From day one with the LR3 I have always had two problems, traction and range. This is caused by the LR3 weight. Range extension with Jerry cans works but is not an engineered solution. Putting the LR3 on diet will not help much. So if you know of source for the tank that would most helpful.

Yes JWestPro, please share with us your tank replacement/addition info. I have spent many hours searching for one with zero luck. this would be a huge help, yes, to me it is huge.

There are no significant limitations to the LR4. Most wagons are heavy and fuel range can be easily augmented. I was able to fit 18" wheels and nearly 33" tires with little drama. Lockers are available.

Here is a recent video shot in Utah. A little LR4 love in there too.

This one is a few years old, but the tanks have been used to deal with Africa and Australia.

Other threads have came up with various people getting tanks made up to take the shape of the spare wheel well and have a gravity fed feed into the main tank.
Your tank doesn't start to show the gauge move till the large tank is empty and your on the original tank.

Or, talk nicely to the US government and let them let LR sell diesel engined models... Like mine.. :D
450 miles average from a tank, can go over 500+ with more motorway miles, that's WITH Duratrac's and an Expo rack up top... :D
The D4 3.0 engine is even better. Latest ones can give over 40+mpg. Yes 40mpg. You can go into a corner and have a little cry over that one.

I like Lucky8, but yeah-their website has needs.

Best bet is to just call them and ask. Seems like they have a lot of products not on the site.

As for LR3/4 sliders, I have a set of Tactical 4x4 on mine. I love 'em. Haven't met anybody with a set who had any complaints. I've even seen people remove perfectly fine sliders from other companies to switch to the Tacticals. Very good coverage as they run well under the truck.
