I thought this would be a good place for honest information.
I'm looking for a Ford E350 4x4 van and finding a lot of them with V10 motors.
Do you have one and can you answer a few questions?
1. Is the V10 dependable
2. What MPG do you get
3. Are there any issues that i should be aware of
4. Would you own another one

Thank You For Helping

1. Yes. Simply yes.
2. 10-13 mpg
3. None I’ve encountered 120k in.
4. Absolutely

I've had 3 V10 vans, a 98, an 05 and currently a 2011.
1. Yes, absolutely. A guy I know is still abusing his often with over 400k. It's a 5.4l with two extra cylinders. There are millions of them on the road.
2. 10-13 as stated above. Current RB 2011 4x4 gets about 11, 2005 26' Motorhome got 11. 98 4x4 got.......11!
3. I'd steer clear of anything older than 2000 or so. 1998 to around 2000 had spark plug issues. No shortage of info on this online. I would recommend 2005 and up to get the 5 speed transmission.
4. Yes.

2013 V10, 4x4, 6" lift on 35s, speedo corrected.

10 mpg if we drive at 65 on the highway.

I second Scotty's comment on looking for 2005+. The 5 speed transmission is way smoother than any of the other 4 speeds I've driven.

Can't speak to reliability since we've only had the van for 15k miles (currently sitting at 95k) but no issues yet.

I've not owned a V10 personally.

Based on the countless Diesel vs V10 debates, and other reading I've seen on V10s over the last 10 years, V10s are reliable, quiet, smooth, and get 10ish MPG for most driving.

Can't guarantee a specific V10 is reliable but everything I've seen indicates they are dependable and reliable.

Never owned one. I'm very happy with my 7.3... 250k miles, 18k hours, very reliable, 16+ mpg at 75 mph sailing down the freeway loaded (10.5K+ lbs.).

Love my V10s. I recently purchased a 2009 E450 Uhaul with the V10 and 165k miles. Had a blown head gasket. When we pulled the engine apart to get the heads fixed we checked the bottom end and it was perfect. Plastigauged everything, every tolerance we checked was good. I expected worse since I know these things get abused but it has been great!

Besides the obvious MPG situation, I wouldnt sweat a V10, especially the ‘youngest’ of the bunch. Engine is an absolute animal and great trans
