It's official, I'm completely hooked. This was by far one of the most fun weekends I have ever had in my whole life....
Thank you for sharing. That does indeed meet the criteria- "proof of fun".
You're a couple states away, but not too far. Who knows we might share a trail someday. Give me a shout if you decide to check out the Owyhees, Steens, Alvord or any of the rest of my back yard :)

Glad you had fun. I love dirtbikes too. Eventually, I would like to have some again, and your trailer is making me ponder the future.

I won't lie, the little trailer is REALLY handy already, and I have dozens of ideas for how to make it more valuable!

exact reason i built my van, #1 moto hauler, #2 snowboard vehicle, #3 take my quebecois wife to see more of the US (which relates to #1 & 2 anyway right)

i havent even been out yet this year--i better fix that now that i got my bike tuned up last weekend. hmm--lefthand tonight--hmmmmmmm

Separated at birth!

Sweet build!

I just wasted an hour of work time -- I will blame you when I get fired.

Thanks! Sadly, I too will blame me when I get fired.

No problem! I want to make a trip all the way up to AK at some point, so I'm sure we can meet up then!

Lunch time face-lift! I have to say - if you are looking for a set of tow mirrors, get the cheap pair on ebay (like $250 or something, shipped). They got here in like 2 days and are brand new in the box!

I got an electric set - even though I don't have the harness for power mirrors. It was just as cheap/expensive either way.

There was another thread on here debating getting to mirrors or not - I vote FOR. Its a safety thing with me - the stock mirrors are adequate for around town NOT towing at BEST, and with how high my van is, and how long - not to mention towing anything, I want to be able to see as MUCH of the road as possible. It is amazing how fast little cars or bikes will sneak up along side you!

Quick upgrade before the weekend road-bike-trip-a-thon!

We will be heading up to Aspen tomorrow night, camping there, riding the Maroon Bells Saturday morning, then dropping down to Glennwood Springs, riding out to the Hanging Lake exit and back, enjoying the hot springs, then (thank you to Marriott Rewards Points) will be staying Saturday night in Vail, riding Vail Pass Sunday morning, then back home!

There will be some night driving, and since I upgraded headlamps I have had to run high-beams full time just to see in front of me. I finally got around to adding a few Hella relays that I had laying around. Labeled them nicely and even used some pre-labeled wire that I had left over from a Scout re-wire job :) Both high and low beam wire!

BTW, some quick n' dirty on relays I reference frequently.

Drove an ambulance yesterday with the late model towing mirrors... huge improvement over the '03 era mirrors with the bottom fisheye that lets you look at the ground before you step out.

So we left Friday afternoon, went up and over Independence pass, camped at the bottom (it was dark when we got there).

Woke up Saturday morning and drove into Aspen, and took the road bikes up to see the Maroon Bells.

We came back, drove down into Glenwood Springs and Hiked up Hanging Lake. Then we drove down to Vail and stayed there Saturday night. Woke up Sunday morning and took the road bikes up Vail Pass. It was horrifically windy and cold. Like 70 MPH kinda windy, but we made it.

Then we drove up to Steamboat Springs and hit the Strawberry Fields hot springs, stayed up there Sunday night. Woke up Monday and did a short bike ride, then drove home. Good times!
