Scrubber3's long overdue build thread

Finished up today. Here is the finished product on the right side and as I was doing the left. They only needed minor adjustments as they were designed for a toyota.

Yes, I used gussets and angled them at 45 degrees down. Two in the middle and one for the front and rear of each side. I put a coat of primer, then 3 coats of bedliner. A mix of the thinner gritty kind and the thick rubbery kind. This should keep anyone from slipping from using it as a step. I angled them upwards and kicked the rear out just a bit. I figure that may help turn me around the big stuff. Plus it looks better that way IMHO.

Added an original 1940s or 50s made in the USA Squirt bottle opener to the front bumper on the driver's side. Used rivets to fasten it in place.

Nice, clean work with your Montero :) It's known as Mitsubishi Pajero worldwide ^_^ Looking for more updates!

Except in parts of the UK where it is badged "Shogun"...

If you can find a good recent pic of my rig on the picture sticky thread you'll notice the word "PAJERO" on the hood lip in raised letters the same color as the hood itself.

Just so you know, every time I see your Patrol it makes me want one of those too.

Thank you.

I have 2 runs set up for next month. A new trail needs to be explored which will be done early in April. I also have a 3 day excursion for the weekend of the 21st. Going to Pott's Mountain and I may take the pop-up camper for that one. :coffeedrink:

Best mod yet! ;)

LOL thanks, it was also one of the easiest. Nothing like the sound of a cold Coca Cola bottle being opened by a true bottle opener. Not to mention I need a bottle opener for my brand of beer for when I'm camping. Guinness is perfect to drink around a campfire while I enjoy freshly cooked bratwurst and potatoes.

It's cast iron and I used aluminum rivets. If that happens, I'll just pick it up and pop it back on when I get home.:shakin:

I was just outside after getting home from Tractor Supply. Bought myself a 10,000lb snatch block. It occured to me that I have never taken a picture of my off road lights on in the dark. So here they are...

The top ones are used for nighttime depth perception and distance while the lower ones are used for the side views.

Yup it's clear "PAJERO" :) Thanks for the tip about the UK name ^_^

You can order Nissa Patrol that looks like mine next year as it'll be legal to import to the US, 25-old: 1988 Nissan Patrol Y60 (GQ) *_^ In the meanwhile, enjoy your nice-looking, heavy-duty Montero!

If I can get a Diesel in that suit, you bet I will try. Nissan is the diesel king as far as the rest of the world is concerned. Only problem is finding any parts I may need here in the states. Thanks for the compliments as I have worked very hard on this rig and I am the only person who has done any work whatsoever on it since I bought it in stock form back in 09. It's funny how it doesn't even look like the same vehicle anymore. If only they'd offered a package like this from the factory....

I think you can order factory parts from any Nissan dealer, it's only a matter of knowing the part number. Like here, if I want parts from another spec like Australian I just go to the Nissan dealer and give part name and they make their calls, most of them are reasonably priced. But Nissan Patrols here are found in every corner so I can find parts for our market's spec easily and with cheap bank-papers :)

It's always better to use a car for off-roading that is cheaper to fix and capable at the same time, and that's your Montero :)

But here we import many cars from the US as there is no such regulation except being left hand car from the factory.
