Sliding E350 van door hits tire

Is there a solution for not having the sliding door hit a wide tire? I could grind the rivets off of the track and space it out but that will look funny.

The VW T3/T25/Vanagon sliding door can be made to tilt out further by the use of a longer arm. Does your van have a similar mechanism? I tried to Google up a picture of what I meant, but failed.

The Ford uses a similar arm but as you close the door part of the arm rolls around towards the inside of the van on the trac. It looks like a flat trac on the VW.

It's not easy on the current body style van. There is word floating around about someone having the parts to extend it, but they will only install.

Your Right

It's Quadvan,

They make the kit and have the skills to do the job. I contacted them well over a year ago & they said they would send me the kit (even though it needed to be installed by a qualified body shop) and to give them a week or two because they were swamped at the moment, so I said ok. But when I called back (spoke to the same person) I was then told that "they" had changed there mind's and had decided that they didn't want to take a chance on the parts copied so for the only way for this to work was for us to bring our van in and have them install "the kit". Well this was not an option being well over a 16 hour drive. If anyone can convince them to sell some, maybe we can get a group buy together, maybe that would help change things, maybe not??

I have left a message with Quadvan and noticed the phone is busy one minute and nobody answers the next. Maybe they are hurting or swamped.

Ya, I had to deal with the same thing, just keep calling and eventually he'll or someone will answer.
Keep us posted on what happens when you finally get ahold of someone, and you might want to check & see if they would be interested in doing a group buy?
Good luck,

I was going to head up there from Fresno, CA once my converion is done, count me in for a group buy!

They quoted me $375 installed on the phone so the parts are probably pretty cheep without the install

How far does the door open once 33-35" tires are one with the 4-6" lift?

what about how much space there is to get in and out of the slider?

27 1/4" from front door edge to sliding door edge but your results may vary depending on tire width and where the door actually contacts the tire.
Quadvan did call me back and left a nice message but unfortunatly they still only offer the service on conversions they are performing in house.

Just a thought but looks like after market rims, what is the offset. On my van I had to leave the stock wheels on with 33 tires to keep the correct offset, I cleared the rear tire by a 1/8".

The rims are off of a stock Superduty p/u but I added steel wheel spacers to correct the track width difference. For some reason vans use a narrow rear end and it dosn't match the Dana front ends that are used on 4x4 conversions. Those spacers were one of the best mods I have done. The van drives strait and stable with less wander.
