Truck guns?

Smith 38 special airweight on my person at all times.

I love that gun, we call it my "church" gun b/c I always carry it when dressed up. I carried it exclusively for years, its so compact, never in the way. I bought a glock that I really like too, so now the airlight is only for church.:sombrero:

As far a truck gun, I'd say my lever action 30.30 with 3-9 scope. It a trapper style, very compact, but honestly I rarely take it unless I know I want to use it.

How about an M134 on the roof and an Mk46 for the copilot? ;)

I live in England. Nothing more to say.

Could you carry one of the 9mm air guns over there? Something like a Career 707?

Personally I favor an old 30 carbine that has been through at least two wars. Getting it banged up isn't an issue..

Well, here in Tx were are almost required by state law to carry a gun. LOL

I am rarely found away from home without my Colt 1911 in my truck. When the wife is along, and I think it necessary, I'll throw her Browning High Power 9mm in as well. On the rare occasion I have felt more firepower might be needed, I'll bring along the cheap ole SKS. I am fairly accurate with it, and it would be good at providing covering/suppressive fire, possibly allowing a retreat to a safer area for me or my family. Being a paratrooper model, it too is short and rather easy to deploy, with the 30rnd magazine it will run a while before it goes empty, it's cheap to shoot when playing around, and perfectly capable of taking down feral hogs, coyote, deer, or what ever else might be legal fare at the time. And like mentioned earlier in this thread, it is fairly cheap and easily replaced if something were to happen to it.

This thread is quite an interesting one... It really gives you a look at the different perspectives on firearms between many Canadians and many Americans. Of course there are lots of people on both sides of the border that have views on all sides of this topic - I am not trying to create any debate or anything - just commenting on the differences. (Also, a quick trip to my local range and I can tell you that I am often in the minority as I am usually there with my hunting rifles and there are others there with their military style / self defence weapons.)

I can tell you that outside of hunting season, I almost never have a firearm in my vehicle. 99% of the time I spend in the woods I do not carry a firearm - and I recreate in bear and cougar country. I would occasionally make an exception to that if I was working / camped in an area where I knew there were problem bears or if I am on a solo trip where I will be making a base camp in one area for some time.

When I do have a "truck gun" it is either my old bolt action .22 or my 20ga side by side. To illustrate the difference in thought about carrying weapons, I have never carried those in my vehicle with the thought of personal protection against other people. I would really only have them in there if I thought I might see some rabbits or squirrels. Of course during hunting season - that changes...

I have a wingmaster that i have fired a total of 3 times in 4 years. just never been a shotgun guy. Now I love my rifles, But I do not feel the need to carry 100% of the time. Being that I travel a lot for work a concealed weapons permit is a waste of time in any one state. I usually have a pistol Taurus PT145PRO close to hand. I also carry a 22-250 or 30.06 in the back country.

You can look into out of state CPL's. One I know of is Utah. You don't have to be a resident or have an address in Utah, just have to complete their one day class. It takes a few months and is a bit pricey, but it is good in over 30 states (check with the state you plan to enter just to be sure). I have been told that other states offer similar permits.
