Hey Doc... No joke, if I could not either find an ADD Actuator or manual hubs up in LA, I was going to come back with a nice shiny PRERUNNER emblem to stick on his tailgate.

Mark does like chrome...

LOL!

You know me so well. :D Now if Mitch found me a blacked out PreRunner emblem... That would be another story.

ohhh okay. Well then..ill add manual hubs to the build list..hahaha

YMMV of course, but I haven't had good experiences with the ADD in the last couple years. You might not run into a single problem with it over the life of your truck, so I wouldn't say it's necessary. Now, if it does goes out on you, I would go ahead and explore the manual hub option rather than replacing the actuator.

So, where to begin? It's been a crazy four days for me. I've been dealing with getting my four wheel drive functioning properly at a leisurely pace, but the priority had to be bumped up after I learned of the snow storm coming through Prescott. I didn't want to be caught on my drive to pick up the camper without it, so I had to try and build Rome in one day. I took some vacation time to pickup the Flippac and took an extra day to get it done.

With my wife having the other vehicle tied up most of the morning on Thursday, I had to scramble around to get the old and new spindles swapped over. The factory knuckles would be be used with the manual hubs so that the ABS system could be retained, but to do so means you must press out the ADD spindles and press in the manual hub spindle. To press them out a 20-ton press is needed, so I took them over to the Truck Shop to have that part taken care of.

Here's the beginning of the tear-down process.

I started to reassemble everything mid to late afternoon and gained an extra set of hands to help out. If it weren't for Mitch, I probably wouldn't have made Prescott on time on Friday. Big thanks to a really good friend!

Here's the front-end going back together with an extra set of hands.

Thanks for taking this picture Apryl.

It was my first time every putting the manual hubs back together after taking them apart. True to form... it took twice as long to get the first side done than it did the second. A dinner/swearing break was taken in between sides.

This is a good shot for showing the massive Tundra 13WL brakes as well.

Finally got everything back together and everything cleaned up around midnight.

A short 5 hours after finishing the manual hub swap, I was getting up to hit the road to Prescott and pick-up the Flip-pac. The wind was really blowing hard in the SoCal area and throwing the truck around like a rag doll. The only evidence I have to show for the wind are a couple pictures I took while coming up through the Imperial sand dunes.

After arriving the work was quickly started mounting the camper and wiring the lights.

The LED lighting is already proving to be the best upgrade to the Flip-pac. The work light can be turned on by a switch and also comes on with the reverse lighting.

The sun was setting when I was ready to hit the road.

I hit the road headed directly to Terra Del Sol 2012. I didn't arrive until about 10:00 PM and by that time the place was packed and looked like the set of Mad Max. The next morning I took the only current picture I have of the top deployed.

Personally, I can't stop drooling. I was like that before, but now I have a reason

It was my pleasure to help out, and glad you were able to get a reasonable amount of sleep to make your trip there and back safely. If anyone understands long distances between A and B that need to be made in a day, it's me. I'm honored to be able to say I had a helping hand in your obtaining 4WD again. Next time, don't wait so long to ask for help.

Thanks, I might just do that and take some more leave this month... this time dedicated to my wife since she started feeling like I was having an affair with the truck.:snorkel:

I haven't noticed any difference in the center of gravity from the RTT and rack to the Flip-pac. Here's some mandatory trail shots from TDS.

Good to see you and your sweet rig last week. Cant wait to see pictures of it in the jungle!

Thanks Scott.

Good luck on your trip. Hopefully we'll share a Cerveza down south in Dec. Also, thanks for letting me distract Ray and Christian.
