Ya that is very close for sure to much tin to bend. I like the overall setup.
the hardest part for me is going to be leaving leaf springs.
Comfort in guess 20 years running leafs. There easy cheap and never not worked. You can patch a truck to get it out. The flip side is a proper link suspension should not break.
I have a very hard time with coils and coial.overs. I'm just old school many new link suspension are limited to 12-15" of travel and I have gotten that with leafs. A set of Deaver springs dose start to add up tho.
I think a tub would have to be used partly. The ability to buy parts for some things like a heater and wiper motor. Lots of time and money can be wasted in this area. Also the windshield mounting would be easier this way.
Ya I see this as the best place to start. If you found one with a title it's even easier. The fj build you linked to I like the way the frame was built. I started a fatty build that way 10 years ago.
