Next up.... Tacoma Custom Pop up

So today we said bye bye to a really cool little Custom Tacoma Pop up. Inside he asked for lots of extra windows in the pop up, extra window in the solid wall above the kitchen, extra short cabover for a better fit over the cab, extra long bed extension, extra high pop up for taller ceiling, extra window in the back, huge escape hatch in the roof, and some more little extras.... I like this customer's design, good size, good features, good truck!

I bought the camper in Bend, OR and put it on my 2006 Tacoma Double Cab short bed (5') Off Road. I know there's been interest in seeing one of the great campers on a DC SB Tacoma, so here's some pics. The original owner had it built to fit an Access Cab Tacoma with 6' bed that allowed the tail gate to be closed. Overall length of the camper floor is 70".

Are you using tapatalk? If so under reply there is a little gray icon that looks kinda like cartoon mountains with a sun over them... Between the camera and the bird. If you are using the web site I have no clue. LOL

Yikes...mom always said if you don't have something nice to say...

Impressed that you guys were able to build a camper for an Avalanche, and we'll leave it at that!

Wow, some great campers in this thread !

Couple of questions... For a bare shell (no interior cabinetry etc) can the holes in the outside walls for appliance vents be placed anywhere ?

Secondly, if the camper is mounted onto a flat bed how is it secured down & do you have a picture or two of that system ?

Thanks....

An Avalanche has that odd feature where you can remove the bulkhead and open the inside of the truck to the cargo area. Is that functional in the camper? It would be great to climb back to the camper without going outside, but still have full seating.

Avalanche Pop up open to cab.

Hi, and thank you for the good question.

This is a custom request. But yes, most people ask for it so we do usually provide a trap door feature that opens up into the Avalanche through the open bulkhead. The hatch opens from the top down, then the hatch door itself then turns into a flat platform supporting a small bed that stretches between the camper cabin and the avalanche cab itself.

Tacoma Crew Cab

Short Bed Tacoma, with PULSE SC... Some great features on this one like custom paint job, tail light skirts with storage, hot water, shower, restroom, extra outside storage, stove sink combo, and more.

Curious how the addition of the outside storage impacted the interior layout on this one.

excellent question!

Yes, every item you add to your floor plan takes away from the space for another. So, with a camper like this, only 6' long on a Tacoma 5' bed that already has a full hot water shower restroom and all the other normal goodies like heater, stove, sink, battery system, power converter, queen main bed, extra dinette seating/bed, and more, it was a real challenge to create a dedicated exterior access sealed/vented storage place for a big Honda 2000 watt generator. So that's what those big vented doors on the passenger side of the camper are.... one door accesses the generator and full size 20# propane tank, the other one accesses the tankless water heater. It wasn't easy, but with careful planning, we were able to keep about 7 cubic feet of storage in the main kitchen cabinet side area.

Thanks for noticing that special feature.
