For those that carry Guns and Overlanding

We at times travel with a pistol, I consider it just another tool in my toolbox. You will never see me carrying it while on the trail or hanging around camp with friends though - its always securely out of sight. I dont feel the need to broadcast its presence. Based on my experience I believe...

The importance of a rear dust light in the southwest.

Have you ever ridden a motorcycle across difficult terrain? The same physics apply. Certainly you wouldnt suggest that dual sport bikes dont belong in the back country. And, you probably understand that riding a moto across sand or rough terrain requires momentum and the right line - so you'd...

    Frontier headlight lamp replacement--Terrible Design

Huh? I've done mine on my xterra a bunch of times on both sides without issue. Maybe there is a little less room in a Frontier but I dont think so?

    custom bumper reliability

How about your winch housing - which could see in excess of 20k lbs of force (10k winch rigged through a snatch block stalled out) - being cast aluminum and held on by just 4 grade 5 3/8 bolts? No one ever worries about those parts.

Cummins 2.8L Diesel "Repower" engine kit

The thing is, that Duramax 2.8 is running a crazy advanced injection setup. It's unknown how basic/advanced the Cummins 2.8 is. Think modern EFI versus TBI.

Tool help!! I need a good metal cutting saw.

I like the 14 inch cold saws a lot but I wish they made a larger miter saw version. The 10 inch will only cut 1.5" thick on the 45. I'd need at least 2".

    custom bumper reliability

Do not buy the Calmini Xterra bumper. One of the biggest mistakes I've made. It looks nice but is flimsy garbage.

The importance of a rear dust light in the southwest.

I think its funny, that the forum which obsesses over "campsite perimeter security" and safety is generally a guiding principle, would ridicule the idea of a dust light simply to allow you to be seen by other vehicles. It ahs nothing to do with you driving in someone elses dust cloud, that is...

    Security of the RTT

If you need a hoist to lift it off, how is a thief going to take it off and where is he going to put it?

The importance of a rear dust light in the southwest.

Hence the reason for a dust light as originally posted. A dust light is basically a tinted rear facing spot light. Think 100W, not 3W tail lights.

The importance of a rear dust light in the southwest.

I dont understand the mentality where you wouldnt *want* to let someone traveling at a more advanced pace pass. Its common effing courtesy in everything from driving on the highway to playing golf. If someone catches up to you, move over. This also applies to "overlanding" in the desert or...

1988 RRC 4.6L Conversion - Need some assistance

It does, the alternator feeds RPM to both the tach and to the ECU

1988 RRC 4.6L Conversion - Need some assistance

You need to get that tach fixed also. The ECU relies on the same signal for RPM. I went through this like 15 years ago with a 13CU and it would run ok on start up and for the first few minutes until the engine switched from open to closed loop and then it all went to hell.

    2017 Chevy Colorado ZR2

You're still talking about 25 year old gearboxes. Price out something new - 6 speed. I can get a rebuilt TH350 from any number of reputable sources for under $700, which has about as much correlation to a new truck with an automatic as your example does.
