    Nevada-April weather

April tends to be cold and snowy. I think the majority of Easter egg hunts my children enjoyed were in the snow. With the snow you get wind, bad wind. In northern Nevada the most prominent spring weather is wicked wind.

whats yours favorite piece of gear

After spending what feels like years of my life airing up tires, I would say my PowerTank is my current favorite. Going from 8 to 35psi on a 35" tire in under a minute each is great!!

    Fresh hot pizza!!

Grilled pizza is fast, easy and delicious! If you have a Trader Joe's in your area they sell 3 varieties of ready to use dough. All you need to do is "roll" it into a thin crust. You can just stretch it and use your fingers to shape it, brush each side with some olive oil and put it on a...

    Anybody runs 33x9.5 tires!

Yeah, when we're 4wheeling in the Sierra's there's usually something to winch off of, but when we're just exploring the desert it's a different story. I need something that can pull you out of a snow drift in the middle of a patch of sagebrush. Like if your driving from Reno to Bodie off road...

    Anybody runs 33x9.5 tires!

I agree, when you have super deep snow you want floatation. But I feel the average "overlander" isn't going to be running in such deep snow. You and I both "overland" and rockcrawl so we're safer with the wider tire so we're prepared for whatever the trail brings. Speaking of super deep snow...

    Anybody runs 33x9.5 tires!

Actually that skinny tire did awesome in mud. At the time we ran those tires I lived off a dirt road and would take a "short cut" to my mother-in-laws house. It was an old back road that was flooded for most of the winter and spring. I would drive 8 miles through 8-10" of mud and never got...

    Anybody runs 33x9.5 tires!

We ran them all over northern NV/CA and never had a problem. That 4Runner was my daily driver which we often took wheeling on all types of trails from mild to wild. For hardcore rock crawling I run a 12.50 on my JKU, but for overlanding I think the 9.50 would be fine.

    Anybody runs 33x9.5 tires!

back in the 90's we ran the BFG M/T's in 33x9.50 and loved them. Great in mud/snow, had good traction for running the Rubicon, not so great in sand.

Why you should buy AEV Bumpers

Although AEV makes great bumpers, it's probably more the fact that aftermarket bumpers are made from solid steel palte verses plastic, styrofoam, chromed pot metal.... Add the fact that most Jeeps sit taller than the average stock car, the bumpers tend to not be lined up. I have red rock fab...

    BB or 4'' suspension?

A friend of mine just put the Rough Country 4" on his JK this summer. He runs 35"KM2's and is very happy with the kit. I wouldn't have chosen the Rough Country kit for myself (I run the RE 4.5" L/A) but my budget was a lot bigger than his. We've run some 4 rated trails with it and he has no...

To winch or not to winch that is the ?

Like stated by others, if you EVER go out alone, a winch should be a priority. As for the approach angle, picking a different line is usually all you need. If it's a rocky ledge that's the problem, usually where there is one rock, there are more--start stacking. In addition to the winch, a...
