Crazy road. This is the main road across the Andes between Mondoza and Santiago and on to Valparaiso

The Argentine beef is really wonderful. Much more flavor and texture than stateside. And of course the Dulce de Leche is a must after the BBQ!

Great photos and vid Scott! Have fun.

The Argentines have a strong Italian/German culture which is where they get their ability and love for cooking. Even at our field camp in the Pre Cordillera north of San juan we ate like kings, better then I expect from a 5 star restaurant here.

The one thing we found odd were the lack of veggies and reluctance appetite for salads in the La Pampa region; especially given the latitude and agricultural base. Although all the meats were incredible including the home-made sausages after a week of steady on protein we were ready for a change ;-)

Valparaiso

This port city is pretty rough around the edges, but did not feel especially dangerous. The Carabineros presence is reassuring and prolific.

There was this crazy old building in the center of town, which housed various small restaurants and markets.

We had a great lunch with Jorge and his friend Helen at the "Boat" restaurant on the port. I had Congrio, which is part eel and part fish - and all yummy. . .

Nice... any more info on this? Would have been fun to use while in OZ!

Wil you beat me to it, but I was going to ask is this the same new HEMA Navigator 5" capable of Street, 4WD and Topo (via OziExplorer) that was recently released in Australia?

I've been reading about it recently...

Cheers,
P
